This week on Thanksgiving Eve, Prep Hoops Texas took a trip to the campus of CE King HS where lots of high-level talent was in the building. The annual RCS Sports HoopsGiving event was taking place all day starting at 9:00 am in the morning and lasting all the way until 9:30 pm in the evening, where several teams were making their names known. Let's give a huge shout out to Doug Jones and Jim Hicks for hosting another spectacular tournament with great hospitality and a nurturing environment for athletes and spectators. Without further ado, let us dive deeper into some game changing prospects who had some important stat lines.

Kayden was active on the glass in Desoto's 56-47 victory over the Atascocita Eagles and played the role of an aggressive, physical guard. He hustles for loose balls and puts his body on the line for second chance points. I really liked his energy and motor this game against a high-level opponent in enemy territory. Johnson was a big-time contributor in all facets of this game and was making his presence felt on both sides of the ball. Johnson had 12 rebounds this game as his key statistic.

Reese was an expert facilitator in Second Baptist's win over the away team, the SA Wagner Thunderbirds. Alston just makes everyone better around him when is on the floor and you can tell that the overall team IQ automatically increases. Reese uses deceptive speed to beat defenders off the dribble and score the basketball from all levels. He also knows how to get critical stops on defense for his team to get momentum and was a great motivational leader in this game. Alston continually raises his stock every year and this season will be no different.

Major was a key pace setter for the Skyline Raiders in their close loss to Washington during OT. He is a playmaker who has eyes in the back of his head and can speed up or slow down the offense at will. He drives to the basket with great downhill speed and can score when his team needs a bucket. He had some important defensive possessions on main ballhandlers for Washington when he got some momentum shifting stops. This was my first time getting to watch Major and he was very impressive. He finished the game with a total of 16 pts and 5 assists, as well as chipping in on the boards with 4 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2555072' first='Gabe' last='Childress'] was a huge contributor for Barbers Hill as the 2027 forward found himself in the starting lineup during a primetime game against Cinco Ranch last night. Childress grabbed 12 rebounds this game and had 10 pts as he notched an important double-double for the Eagles. He displayed willingness to make the extra pass and was a good team player, excelling with some hard screens to free up ballhandlers. The sophomore will maintain a high ceiling if he continues showing flashes of high IQ and fundamental play.

Brody is a physical presence inside and he knows when to make the right passes to open offensive players. Battles for boards with aggressiveness and stays engaged. He blocked several shots under the basket and stays disciplined, knowing when not to foul and not jump on pump fakes. Thornton was effective in transition and ran the floor with long strides often finishing through contact and cashing in at the free throw line. This was my second time getting to watch Brody and he consistently is a dominant force on the boards and under the rim. He scores efficiently on offense in the paint and alters shots for opponents on defense.

Robert was the main scorer for Booker T Washington in their huge overtime win against Dallas Skyline earlier in the afternoon. Jones had 17 pts and took smart shots from the field, consistently scoring when the War Eagles needed a push on offense. He is a shifty combo guard who can score from all three levels and was really effective driving to the basket and drawing contact this game with several made free throws. He knows how to keep teammates involved and move the ball around the floor to everyone on offense. Jones Jr. will continually be on my radar as he looks to make a big impression this senior year.
