It is almost time to tip-off the Indiana High School Basketball season. The games begin on Monday, November 25th which means we are in full season preview mode here at Prep Hoops Indiana headquarters. Last week we gave our preseason Top 10 class-by-class rankings, highlighted the Top 20 players in each class, previewed the candidates for the Indiana All-Star teams, and much more. Now, this week, we will dive a bit deeper into previewing each class before it is time to see it all play out next Monday. We will dive in here with an overview look at the Class 2A (North).

Toughest Sectional: Sectional 39 @ Frankton

Both Lapel and Tipton are in the Prep Hoops Indiana Preseason Class 2A Top 10 while Sheridan is knocking right on the door, Taylor won 17 games last year, and Frankton is a 15-game winner from last season that is never a tough out. There will be no such thing as an easy draw win it comes tournament time this coming spring. On paper, the Bulldogs of Lapel have the most returning talent. [player_tooltip player_id='1381459' first='Brode' last='Judge'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1530978' first='Bode' last='Judge'] give them an excellent one-two combo while junior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1139937' first='Devin' last='Craig'] is a valuable piece as well. Those are the three leading scorers from last year's team. Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id='1297029' first='Grady' last='Carpenter'] returns as an Indiana All-Star candidate for Tipton giving the Blue Devils the best overall player in the Sectional. Indiana Tech bound [player_tooltip player_id='1139221' first='Caleb' last='Wright'] and his Sheridan team won't go down without a fight either. Then, as mentioned earlier, Taylor and Frankton won 17 and 15 games respectively a season ago and will have expectations of cutting down the Sectional 39 nets. This is going to be a fun one to follow in March.

State Title Contenders

Bishop Luers: The top ranked team in the Prep Hoops Indiana Preseason Class 2A Top 10, Bishop Luers will be a very tough out come tournament time. Led by Division I commits [player_tooltip player_id='1749046' first='Drelyn' last='Truesdale'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1749047' first='Dereon' last='Truesdale'], the Knights have as much firepower as anyone. With [player_tooltip player_id='1297012' first='Danny' last='Kelly'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2381412' first='Carmani' last='Davis'] back, Bishop Luers returns all four of their leading scorers from last year's team that won 20 games.

Gary 21st Century: Returning a three-headed monster featuring [player_tooltip player_id='1561080' first='Terrence' last='Hayes'] Jr, [player_tooltip player_id='1561004' first='Ronald' last='Mosley'], and Lemetrius Williams will give Gary 21st Century as much firepower as anyone at the Class 2A level. Overall, the Cougars return their top six scorers from last season according to MaxPreps. They will enter the season ranked #4 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Preseason Class 2A Top 10.

You can also certainly make an argument for whoever emerges from Sectional 39 as a very legitimate contender. Jimtown or Westview are probably best positioned otherwise to pull an upset and knock off Bishop Luers and/or Gary 21st Century here in the Class 2A North this season.
