Recruiting Report: Jonathan Thomas (2019)
Currently checking in as Nevada’s 9th-ranked 2019, 6-foot-4 guard Jonathan Thomas is still very much available and a guy that college programs might want to start paying attention to.
With great size plus a diverse skill-set, and with still two years to develop as a prospect, Thomas could be considered one of the more under the radar guys in Nevada right now.
“I don’t have any recruitment going on right now, but I feel like I can get some going this summer with my AAU team, Las Vegas Knicks,” said Thomas. “It’s a good program and I believe some will come towards me, I just have to be patient with it.”
Thomas will showcase that diverse skill-set this winter as a key player with Eldorado, and should see some recruitment come in by season’s end.
“When I’m out there on the floor, I feel like my strength is being versatile. I’m big and my defender can never predict what I’m going to do next, because I can take it to the hole but I can also knock down my shots,” said Thomas.
“I believe I have to work on ball-handling and my mid-range jumper, my 11 to 15 footer has to be more knockdown.”
His junior season started Tuesday with the Sundevils, and after starting last year as a sophomore, he’ll take on a larger role this season.
“This year is going to be way different for me, I’ll need to be a leader rather than a learner,” said Thomas. “My coach’s expect more from me now, and I have to score more much more than I did last year.”
