Central League 2024-25: Under the Radar Prospects

Below is a review of prospects who are flying under the radar in southeastern Pennsylvania's Central Athletic League.   College coaches and local hoops heads should learn their names immediately.     After a solid 2023-24 season, Cahill has experienced a breakout stretch of play during recent fall ball action. This versatile and athletic guard with a feathery 3-point stroke was recently named as a top performer at the CoBL Interstate shootout as well as the MADE Hoops Northeast Preview. He can drain threes. work as a primary ball handler, distribute and rebound. His high IQ and court awareness make Cahill a creative distributor too. Cahill's emergence as a legitimated 2nd / 3rd option makes Penncrest a serious contender for the Central League title.     Murray is a wiry and quick guard with active hands who excels at turning steals into easy baskets. He can also grab a defensive rebound, get downhill in a flash, and then push the fast break for scores or assists. Murray is a creative transition finisher. On half-court possessions, Murray will use his nifty change of speed moves to blow past his defender for stop-n-pop jumpers in the mid-range or lay-ins at the rim. Murray will sprinkle in the occasional 3-ball too. Despite all these scoring skills, Murray is an unselfish player who will not hesitate to make the extra pass.     Singletary first caught our eye at the PW Spring League where he flashed the ability to hit jumpers from all over the floor, including from deep. More recently Singletary was a standout at the DELCO Fall Shootout where he posted 14 points (2 threes) against CB West. When he is not draining triples, Singletary can create off the dribble for himself or teammates. Singletary runs the floor well, so he is an effective secondary break option too. His passing skills are underrated. Two or three times a game Singletary will catch opponents by surprise with a creative dime. In a lineup full of combo guards, Singletary's length, solid frame, and athleticism provides LM with a solid presence on the boards at both ends.       Smith is the only returning starter from the 2023-24 Radnor team that won 22 games, finished second in the Central League and advanced to the 2nd Round of the 5A state tourney. He is an extremely athletic guard (also a standout lacrosse player) with a quick burst and significant hops. Smith thrives in the open court where he can pilot the fast break for scores or assists. On half-court possessions, Smith can score off dribble drives and cuts to the basket for lay-ins. He can also use his length and solid frame to post up smaller defenders. Smith is a streaky three-point shooter and when he gets hot, it is trouble for opponents. Last season he averaged 10 ppg. and scored a season high 19 points (3 triples) against WC East.
