High School Spotlight: Bedford North Lawrence Stars

The season is still a month away, but with practices happening, it is the perfect time to start previewing the season. In this series, we will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and notable games for the upcoming season. For today's spotlight, we take a look at the Bedford North Lawrence Stars.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Quick Hitters</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Went 13-9 last season.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Lost to New Albany in Sectionals.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Head Coach Kurt Godlevske returns for his 2nd season as the head coach. 13-9 overall record.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Should compete with Jeffersonville for HHC Championship. </li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Player: [player_tooltip player_id='1578453' first='Patric' last='Matson']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top players when it comes to bursting onto the scene and becoming one of the biggest stock risers in the 2025 class is Bedford senior wing, who is without question the top plays for the Stars next season. He was leading producer for the Stars last year where he started to really make a name for himself in the southern Indiana area with his 20.1 points per game. He was also very good for [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 2025 over the summer, as well. At 6'5, Matson is a high motor, high athletic prospect that can make plays all over the floor with tremendous bounce with his versatile skillset. Schools like Wabash, IU-Kokomo, and Taylor have all taken notice of him but a strong senior season may get more schools involved. He is arguably the best under-the-radar prospect in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2116874' first='Parker' last='Kern']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the younger guys on this Bedford team that has some major upside is 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2116874' first='Parker' last='Kern']. After having a strong summer with&nbsp;<a href="https://prephoops.com/program/indiana-elite-team-indiana/"><strong>[program_tooltip program_id='2400000' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Indiana']</strong></a>&nbsp;this AAU season, Kern showed some good flashers of being a breakout guard in the southern Indiana region of the state. He is a really sharp passer, has length at the point guard spot, and shows good quickness both on and off the ball. He is also a very consistent scorer at all three levels.
