+50 (#72 to #22)
Charchaflian, a guard out of the Noble and Greenough School in Massachusetts, rose 50 spots in this update and now sits at #22 overall. One of the biggest stock risers in New England this winter, the combo guard plays with a terrific combination of athleticism, poise, skill, and toughness. He’s a next level, late shot clock, shot creator that does a great job of getting into his mid-range game off the bounce. Defensively, he can really compete at the point of attack, using his strength to keep opposing ball-handlers out of the paint and away from their scoring spots.

Charchaflian, a guard out of the Noble and Greenough School, showcased his ability to run an offense and score the basketball at a high level. He’s an impressive late-clock, isolation scorer that shows the ability to get to his spots off the bounce and then quickly elevate to get his shot off over the defense. Off the ball, he’s a high level shot maker from behind the arc, particularly impressing as a movement shooter. Defensively, he’s a gritty and tough on-ball defender that takes pride in his effort on that end of the floor.

Charchaflian had a good summer and fall when I saw him play, but I’m not sure I expected this level of impact this season for what looks to be an excellent Nobles squad. The 6-foot sophomore is a phenomenal passer and is surprisingly confident and effective at the point guard position; he makes cross-court reads in his sleep and is unselfish and smart. But he also knows when to take over and uses slow step moves at the rim to finish. Charchaflian has no offensive weakness and is a name to keep an eye on in the coming years.

Charchaflian is an incredibly impressive sophomore guard who’s improving quite rapidly. The 6-foot guard is a really solid athlete and has great strength and control on drives to the hoop. He had a nasty spin move for a layup in Friday’s quarterfinal matchup against Boston Latin Academy, but he also has a nice dribble pull up game in the mid range. Defensively, Charchaflian takes charges and is very tough on the ball. He will be a stud for Nobles this season and all levels of college basketball are on the table. He should also makes waves on the Middlesex Magic next spring.

He is truly special as he moves with ease. The ball rarely gets stolen while dribbling, leading a very high assist to turnover ratio. He can keep a play alive even when there is hardly any offensive movement and deliver a spectacular play in the end. His handles and endurance led to finishing at the rim numerous times. Gets by defenders, beating them with a quick crossover or simply getting downhill with his explosiveness. He can rise up and shoot with a pure smooth stroke on different defenders. He processes the game speed and defenders with ease leading to great decisions when a two on one presents itself.

He was great in this game, changing the pace of his dribble numerous times. A hard cutter to the basket without the ball, slasher with the ball and curls hard off pnr’s downhill. He easily got to his spots, rising up knocking down shots from 16-20 feet out. The most impressive aspect was his composure and poise to lead this team and will be interesting how far he can lead them in the playoffs this year.

Charchaflian, a standout in the sophomore class at Winchester, has helped his team to a 13-1 record, ranking 4th in Division 1. A heady lead guard, Charchaflian is a crafty ball-handler that is hard to guard with a live dribble. He does a nice job of picking his spots as a scorer, can make high level passes in the half-court, and is a next level shooter when he’s running the floor in transition. He’s proven capable of getting big baskets as an isolation scorer, where his quickness, strength, and athleticism allows him to break down opposing defenders. Defensively, he plays with a high IQ, has the physicality to guard up a position, and can really push the basketball off of a defensive rebound. One of the top underclassmen in the MIAA, he’s a major piece to the puzzle for a Winchester team that will look to make a deep run this winter.

Charchaflian, a big time scorer with the Middlesex Magic, stood out last winter as one of the top first years in the MIAA. A crafty scorer, Charchaflian was a big part of the success Winchester had last winter and is in store for a huge sophomore season. A solid athlete that plays with great pace, he has a terrific understanding of tempo and how to create space. He is an above average shooter, both from behind the arc and in the mid-range, and does a great job of elevating into his jumper. He has high level floor vision and is a crafty passer in traffic. Defensively, he’s gritty and competitive and can really move his feet laterally when he sits in a stance. He has the chance to lead Winchester this winter and could be one of the top underclassmen scorers in Massachusetts.
