Washington Class of 2019 Outlook
What are the strengths and weakness of the class of 2019 in the state of Washington? We give you the low down in our class outlook here!
Strengths:
High-Major/D1 Prospects. This class is stacked with high major guys who have numerous offers to play top tier collegiate basketball. When you look at the top of the rankings. The first 10 guys have seen success during the live period and have came home with high D1 interest. This class features a couple of guys who are showing up on the national ranking board. With arguably one of the best point guards in the country back in Tacoma (Pierre Crockrell) this class is solid. With guys like Noah Williams, Elijah Pepper, Jaden McDaniel’s and Jamon Kemp this year will be exciting.
Tons of Elite Guards/D2-NAIA Prospects. The position that it is strongest in this class is the guards position. There are a lot of combo guard prospects with upside as scorers that project well toward the D2-D3 level. Also value can be found at the small forward position for these schools with several wings that might not jump off the court at you, but will be productive college basketball players. The latest rankings for this class produced a total of 49 spots for this ranking. I would say that all 49 have the ability to play at the next level.
Weaknesses:
Lack of size in this class. This group does lack size in the middle. With the exception of guys like Zane Foster and Abdul Mohammed there isn’t very many traditional big men. Most guys range from 5’9 to 6’6. That is the average range of height for our top tier guys and even when looking at guys ranked between 25-50 that average goes down to about 5’7-6’3.
Sure Prospects At Post Positions. There are some potential prospects with upside at the post spots, but no sure things at this stage, especially when it comes to length. The power forwards in the class are athletic prospects that are mostly undersized. From a center perspective there are several players with legit size, but are lacking athleticism or fluidity scoring in the post. Most of the traditional post guys you see will need some work at the next level to a potential force in the middle.
