When the Irish needed a bucket, they usually looked to Kynard on Tuesday evening to get that bucket. Able to hit shots running off screens, Kynard made some tough shots off movement late in the game. Also having the strongest drive of the game with a power finish right through a defenders body, Kynard was fearless as an attacker. Despite the loss, Kynard was a clear standout as a combo guard who can flat out get a bucket Vs one of the best teams and defenses in Ohio.

Johnson was the star early on for Toledo Central Catholic, but Kynard came on strong in the second and third quarters to help pull away to an 81-51 win over host Huntington North. The 6’1″ junior guard hit three three-point shots and displayed some explosive finishing ability up around the rim while playing through contact. He went on to finish with 25 points to lead all scorers in the game.

Kynard played at an extremely high level, showing confidence in his shot and knocking them down consistently. When he’s hitting from the perimeter, it opens up the rest of his game, and he took full advantage. A strong athlete who is growing more comfortable each time out, Kynard showed poise in making the right decisions with the ball and impacting the game on multiple levels.

Kynard is an athletic, tough guard who brings a competitive edge every time he takes the floor. He’s got that dog mentality and isn’t afraid to go at anyone. A strong slasher, he attacks the rim with force and finishes through contact, making him a tough matchup for defenders. His toughness and energy make him stand out, and I expect him to leave a big mark on this year’s showcase.

Toledo Central Catholic looked impressive as their guard talent is plentiful even without Dre Wardop on Friday. Kynard was getting busy on the perimeter with some tough buckets created for himself off the bounce. Kynard can also space the floor off the catch as he knocked down a few 3-pointers with his feet set on the perimeter. One of the biggest things I notice when Kynard has the ball in his hands is he doesn’t lack confidence at all and thinks every shot he takes is going in. When you play the schedule Toledo Central Catholic does, you can’t be afraid of anybody across the lines from you and Kynard can get hot and give his team a chance on any given night.

Toledo Central Catholic had one of the youngest teams in Ohio this year and Kynard got valuable experience playing for the Irish this season at the varsity level. Kynard can knock down shots off the catch and has a quick first step to attack closeouts when the ball is kicked out to him. I’m excited to continue to monitor his development as a ball handler as he’s shown flashes of being able to beat defenders off the dribble. Toledo’s 2027 class seems stacked with talent and Kynard is another name fans should know heading into next season.

Kynard thrived propelling his way downhill and getting paint touches with ease. He kept possessions alive with his hustle. He made a living at the foul line. Kynard had a team high 18 points and hit a few tough shots. I would like to see him look to make others better more as a facilitator.

Kynard is a nice skilled guard who has much improvement this season. His midrange game is become a big weapon for him. He does a good job of stopping on a dime and pulling up. He hit tough floaters and was one of the few players who attacked Lima Senior pressure with confidence and made them pay for it. He is a true threat for scoring the ball. Impressed with his offensive bag this year.

Kynard was a solid player all night for the Irish and someone that they could rely on to make plays for them. His jumper was falling and did a great job of hitting midrange shots. He never forced anything all night and always knocked down the shots he took. He has a nice handle on the ball and does exactly what you want from a point guard. He played with great competitive energy.
