The Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase was a great opportunity to evaluate prospects in the 2028 class! Here we break down a pair of the camp teams and which prospects were the top performers on those squads.

Team 1

[player_tooltip player_id='2369943' first='John' last='Morgan'] (Crystal Lake South)

Morgan is a 6'4” power forward with such an excellent skill level. He might not wow you with his athleticism, but its his skill set at his size and frame that are so much fun to watch. Rebounds everything in his area. Morgan can play bully ball down low with his strength, but his ability to pass, shoot, and handle are what make him an intriguing prospect. Can deck it on the baseline for scores and get second chance points on the offensive glass. A lot will depend on how much he grows, but there are some skill set similarities and the fact that he might be overlooked like guys previously Robbie Avila and Cameron Krutwig.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194657' first='Josiah' last='Hall'] (St. Ignatius)

Hall is a 6'0” shooting guard that had a breakout performance with how well he shot the ball from beyond the arc. The Ignatius guard shot lights out in the game we saw him. In the first 5 on 5 game he rained in four triples. Deep range on his three point shot that consistently went in.

[player_tooltip player_id='2515916' first='Jack' last='Fabian'] (Benet)

Fabian is an athletic 6'0” guard that brings pop on the wing. Slick player that had some fun plays like give and goes, reverse layups, and at the end of the game he threw down a ton of dunks showing off his athleticism.

Jacob Jones (Marist)

Jones is a 6'2” shooting guard that brings scoring pop. Won off the dribble shaking defenders and is a decent shooter.

Team 2

[player_tooltip player_id='2369867' first='Ryan' last='Morgan'] (Crystal Lake South)

Morgan is the twin brother of John who we mentioned above. He is a skilled 6'4” forward that is an excellent passer, can take it off the bounce from the mid-post, stretches the floor from beyond the arc, and rebounds well in his area.

CJ Pittman (Walter Payton Prep)

Pittman is a guard we have heard good things about, but this was our first chance to see him in person. The explosive 5'11” lead guard is so slippery with the rock in his hands. He pushes in the open floor and gets to the rim in transition. Good passer that does it with flair. Crisp pull up jump shot.

Grant Smith (Lyons Township)

Smith had a massive performance in the opening 5 on 5 game of the event. The combo forward showcased his entire game at a high level and had a ton of buzz among scouts and fans in the house. His strength and frame at 6'4” along with his big time athleticism really shine. Long strides and consistently took it off the defensive glass going coast to coast where he finished above the rim with explosiveness. Straight line takes off the bounce, crisp ball handling, and got on the offensive glass. We liked him at UAA when we saw him in July and he elevated his stock even more here.

[player_tooltip player_id='2441084' first='Noah' last='Hester'] (Taft)

Hester is a 6'2” shooting guard from Taft that was in attack mode throughout. Consistently got in the lane off the dribble where he was fouled or finished inside. Bouncy wing that plays above the rim and is a solid wing rebounder.

Jeremiah Toney (St. Laurence)

Toney had a very nice showing at the camp. The St. Laurence 5'10” guard is very athletic with quickness having the ball in his hands. St. Laurence's program is reloading and we expect Toney to be a nice piece of that long term.
