With the spring and summer AAU season coming to a close, sooner rather than later the 2024-25 high school basketball season will be just around the corner as we quickly approach the fall. Schools and coaches will prepare their student-athletes for the fun and competitive season ahead all over the six states in the New England area. In this School Team Preview series, I hope to highlight individual teams in the region and give insights on which players I expect to make an impact in the upcoming season. Let's get started!

Team: Noble and Greenough School (MA)

Head Coach: Lambros Papalambros

2023-24 Season Record

10-13

The Big Dogs on Campus

There are two players I expect to make a major impact on the Bulldogs. Headlining the group will be senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1529132' first='Drew' last='Kahn']. With premier shooting skills from the perimeter and budding creativity off the bounce, ball handling, and shiftiness, he should lead the team in scoring and putting up massive numbers. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1532442' first='Rylan' last='Singh'] also looks to leave his mark for Nobles. With great touch around the rim, efficient post moves, and the ability to stretch the floor, he will give opposing defenders problems on how to stop him in the half-court with his combination of grace and strength.

Additional Difference Makers

Three other players should be significant for the Bulldogs this upcoming year. Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2341400' first='Zach' last='Baum'] and the mix of his interior and outside scoring he brings should pair nicely with Singh. His good footwork in the post and off-the-dribble shooting with an effective handle should be a valuable option for Nobles to go to regularly. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1532480' first='Akhil' last='Janapareddy'] is the tone-setter and floor general of the squad. With a high basketball IQ, he can find teammates with ease with wowing passes and should help their offense's consistency throughout any game. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2568332' first='Raul' last='Cruz'] is another guard who can dribble, pass, and shoot on the offensive side of the hardwood. With a good balance of facilitating and self-creation, his talents play well off the other guards on the team while also bringing defensive intensity and passion that is much needed for a winning program.

Underclassmen To Keep an Eye On

There are three underclassmen in particular to watch next season for the Bulldogs. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2470921' first='Adam' last='Malima'] brings speed and creative finishing at the cup to the table. He can get by anyone he wants on offense and keep in front of anyone on defense and should provide a spark in the bench unit. Sophomore forward [player_tooltip player_id='2568372' first='Jack' last='Mullins'] is a flamethrower who can light it up beyond the arch with above-average positional size. With good form and a steady demeanor, his off-ball shooting should be paramount during certain matchups and scenarios. Freshman guard [player_tooltip player_id='2571884' first='KJ' last='Hurd'] has good athletic traits and can get to the basket and take on contact. With a promising jump shot and good effort on the defensive side, he should have his moments that help Nobles throughout the year.
