Marksville may have the best guard tandem

The Sophomore ID camp saw one of the best guard tandems in the state. [player_tooltip player_id='2532375' first='Jaden' last='Price'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2421312' first='Devin' last='Lavalais'] did not play together during the camp. If they had, they might have been a serious problem for other guards. Both players played well with other guards on their respective teams. Watching Price and Lavalais, one can tell their games mesh well together. With these two at the helm, Marksville is in line for another deep playoff run.

High Ceiling Point Guards

[player_tooltip player_id='2316989' first='Tyrone' last='Jamison'] (Calvary Baptist) is not the only high level, sophomore point guard Louisiana has. That point was definitely proven during the Sophomore ID. Whether it was scoring or passing, [player_tooltip player_id='2132750' first='Jakobe' last='Dantzler'] (Archbishop Hannan) had a superb day leading his team. [player_tooltip player_id='2132747' first='Ian' last='Edmond'] (Zachary) has played well all summer and it carried over to the camp. He knows how to attack the paint and make defenses uncomfortable. Other guards like [player_tooltip player_id='2025206' first='Kortlan' last='Williams'] (David Thibodaux), [player_tooltip player_id='2132597' first='Trae' last='Dorsey'] (Denham Springs), and [player_tooltip player_id='2529000' first='Tyler' last='Brazier'] (Catholic) also showed high level guard ability. Louisiana's class of 2027 has a plethora of point guards.

Athletic Off Guards & Wings

Playing the off guard or wing is a talent in itself. Oftentimes, these players are the leading scores on the team. They have to read plays and players, do a ton of cutting or spotting up, and defending on the opposite end. This sophomore group embodies those traits.

[player_tooltip player_id='2471554' first='Elijah' last='Garner'] (Madison Prep) may be the best scorer in the state. He can fill it up from all three levels and makes it look easy. [player_tooltip player_id='1975865' first='Zaveon' last='Shepherd'] (John Curtis) spaces the floor well when spots up. Open shots were like layups to him. [player_tooltip player_id='2532387' first='Shance' last='James'] (University Lab) showed driving ability and the goods to finish in transition. [player_tooltip player_id='2532365' first='Carlos' last='Levingston Jr'] (St. Michael) excelled in transition. He is a player who can use his defense to create offense and did it several times at the ID camp. [player_tooltip player_id='2132729' first='Austin' last='Turner'] (Huntington) may have been the best all-around wing on the day. He showed three and D skills along with high level scoring ability. Preps, in this bunch, had to be uber-talented to hang against one another in the ID camp.

This is a deep and very talented class of basketball talent. The level of play this past weekend from the class of 2027 is going to be something to see as the year progresses. There are some very talented players in this class. This group of preps may be the most talented class we have seen in a long time.
