The junior is a bit raw at this stage as he takes a long time to set up his post moves. Offensively he is at his best when he gets deep post position and finishes with strength. Solid rebounder with his large hands snatching the ball and has potential as a post defender anchoring. Plays hard and with a lot of enthusiasm. Runs the floor well for his size and is a good athlete considering how big he is.
Cameron competed at the PrepHoopsIllinois Combine in mid-October and proved to be one of the better post prospects there. He recently transferred high schools from Tilden to Hyde Park for his junior season. The center told us why.
“I felt I needed better competition and I thought Hyde Park would be the best choice because I can stay in the Red. I get to play against guys like Manny Patterson.”
How did the summer go playing on the circuit with Meanstreets 16U?
“It was fun. I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to next summer. I worked on my ball handling. Being a better post player and making good decisions.”
UTEP is a school that has shown interest in Cameron early in the process.
