First Person: Illinois Attack

<p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">In our “First Person Grassroots Recap” series we take a look at how the travel team season went for one our state’s programs.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">We caught up with Tyson Chapman of Illinois Attack to discuss their 17U team!</span></span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">17U<br /> <br /> Record:</span></span></span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">24 - 17</span></span></span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size:14px">Championships/Accomplishments:</span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">Final 8 of platinum bracket at Spring Extravaganza NY2LA, 2nd Place Gold Division at NY2LA Invitational</span></span></span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size:14px">Key Wins:</span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">MN Heat Northwest, Wisconsin Playmakers-Jesperson</span></span></span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size:14px">Overall Thoughts on Season:</span></p> <p><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:12pt">Over the past two seasons this group has shown tremendous resolve.  When our team was healthy and all present for tournaments, we were one of the top teams in the state/area.  This season we lost a bit of our identity because our best player (Jarret Olson - PG 2016, St. Bede Academy) found out he had a fracture in his back in late June.  He was our leader and set the tempo for every game.  That said, we had other players that stepped up and carried us for long stretches.</span></p> <p><br /> <span style="font-size:14px">Standout Performers:</span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">Harry Hallstrom</span></span></span><span style="font-size:12pt"> <span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">- Key big man for us.  Patrolled the interior and never stopped fighting.  He&#39;s been a huge role model for the Attack program on and off the floor.  We&#39;ve loved having him in the program and he has truly developed.  His attitude and willingness to do whatever was needed for the team, helped propel us all year long!</span></span></span></span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">Lee Higgins</span></span></span><span style="font-size:12pt"> <span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">- Really started to shine once he felt comfortable in our offense this season.  His defense and aggressiveness getting to the rim really allowed our team to open up.  He showed he can help carry a team once Jarret went down for the month of July.</span></span></span></span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">Jarret Olson</span></span></span><span style="font-size:12pt"> <span style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34)"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12pt">- Best player no one knows about.  He&#39;s an all-state basketball and baseball player.  He led our team and forced teams to pay attention to him.  He&#39;s been with our program for many years and has always shown heart.  I have no doubt about it, if he would have been with us in July, he&#39;d be posted all over recruiting websites and our team would have accomplished some bigger wins.  He is definitely one to watch this season.</span></span></span></span></p>
