The scoring guard was nothing short of spectacular all season, securing the 4A state title for Highland. A high volume three point shooter who’s a threat from anywhere along the perimeter, Licon’s range and boldness made him one of the toughest players to guard in the state. Relatively strong among backcourt positions, Licon has found success among all three levels as Highland’s offensive engine. There are few guards in the state, possibly the region, with quite the green light like Licon. They were a threat multiple feet behind the high school line, capable of stepping into the shot or while from a standstill.

Rhodes stepped into a large role offensively, a skilled shotmaker from well beyond the arc. A skilled three point shooter, Rhodes is not wavered by a hard closeout. Capable handling the ball under pressure, Rhodes has provided quality decision making while under chaotic circumstances.

A proactive downhill scorer, Petties leveraged his physicality and capable handle to be a much higher volume scoring threat this season. Highly active pushing the pace within transition situations, he has found plenty of success while surveying the open floor. Adding strength while prioritizing his shot attempts for more opportunities around the rim, Petties has found plenty of success through his final season with Cottonwood Classical Prep.

When we talk about improvement, there are few athletes in the state who have taken the opportunity in stride quite like Adams. The guard has become more diverse scoring the ball on all three levels, all while becoming a deadeye from behind the arc. Adams has improved his shotmaking efficiency off the bounce as well, improving his fluidity while on the move for such jumpers. This is all on top of their defense, proactive at the point of attack, given his quick instincts and wide reach. It is no surprise as to why Adams has already received collegiate interest over the past, although this season he really established himself in Sandia’s context.
