There wasn’t much that Tony Johnson Tony Johnson Lakeville North | 2026 State MN didn’t do for his WOTN team on Sunday. At 6’1 he has a long frame and spent time as a primary ball handler for his team, while also being able to play out on the wing. Calm under pressure, Tony was making smart decisions on the ball, and is an unselfish player who isn’t going to over-dribble. Tony could take smaller guards into the post and finish through contact, he defended the 1-3 spots, and provided an extra rebounding presence for his team with his length and athleticism.

Tony stands at 6’3” and can play a variety of different roles. His size allowed him to be a difference maker inside, rebounding well for a guard and defending the paint at a high level. He could also bring the ball up the floor, being able to attack the paint or stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting.

Tony got off to a strong start in the game I watched on Sunday. The Lakeville North PG had a strong take to the rim for two points, dished out two assists, and earned a trip to the free throw line all within a couple of minutes. The opposing defense just couldn’t rattle him with their ball pressure, as he was a calming presence on the floor who couldn’t be forced into mistakes. Throughout the game he was getting into the paint to make plays as a facilitator, and did a nice job of playing off two feet to give himself the option to pivot and kick it back out to the perimeter if needed. Solid on-ball defender as well.
