5 Freshman Everyone Will Know By 2021
These are five freshman in Michigan high school basketball that I believe will be well known by their senior year. This is NOT a top five list. However, these young men have attributes and skill sets that will lead to great success at the high school level. In my opinion, these players will be household names for fans of high school basketball in Michigan.
Legend Geeter (6-6, G/F, River Rouge)
This kid is a recently converted wing player. He’d always played in the post until recently, and has done well with the switch. As an athlete with good size, he is hard to guard and can be a matchup nightmare. Geeter is a pass first wing, and he is good at it. He even has the ability to play as a point-forward.
Kingsley Perkins (6-3, F/C, Ann Arbor Huron)
He is a high motor kid, who also has a workhorse mentality. He is also a very good athlete. The way he hustles on the court, combined with his athleticism and skill set, success in on the horizon at the high school level. Perkins is active on the glass and dangerous as a finisher in the open floor.
Pierre Brooks Jr. (6-4, F, Detroit Douglass)
This kid simply can’t be left off any list regarding the Class of 2021 in Michigan. He is probably the most all around skilled player in the class and is already a high major D1 recruit. He’s dangerous as a passer or finisher on the break. He has incredible court vision. Brooks Jr. has a skill set and size that is rare at his age. He goes about the game with a mature and business-like demeanor, that indicates success on all levels.
Andrel Anthony (6-1, SG, East Lansing)
This kid is a scorer. His jump shot can be dangerous, and when it’s on, his range is limitless. He is athletic enough to create his own shot and has a knack for getting himself free for kick out jumpers. He plays with confidence and truly believes every shot is going in. Anthony is a strong player who can play physical with most shooting guards.
Julian Roper Jr. (6-2, SG, Detroit Country Day)
This young man is an athlete. He flat out gets to the rim and finishes. He also has a nice mid-range pull up jump shot which gives him options when he attacks the rim. Roper Jr. sees the floor very well, especially on the break. This makes him a solid option on the break as a passer or finisher.
