Mid-Season All-Stars Second Team:

No big surprises there. Now we announce the second team, with a third team forthcoming.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For this exercise, we named just five players – two guards, two forwards and a center. We took some liberty with the positions in order to try to get the five best players on each team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are the Prep Hoops Mid-Season Second Team All-Stars:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>G – [player_tooltip player_id='1378440' first='Micah' last='Deaver'], 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Olathe East:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Deaver has been showing all his talents thus far in the season, gliding and slashing his way to creative plays at the offensive end and keeping things cranked up in transition. His 49 points against Blue Valley West was a highlight, but night in and night out Deaver has been a super productive guard, averaging more than 20 points for the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>G - [player_tooltip player_id='1300838' first='Jacob' last='Fritz'], 6-foot-3 guard, 2024, Blue Valley Northwest (pictured):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fritz stepped into the leadership role of the Huskies, and the team hasn't missed a beat since it's title run in the spring of 2023. He showed he can play a supporting role last year, defending and rebounding at a high rate. Now this season, he's taken over a lot of the ball handling, distribution and perimeter shooting, and he's showing he can handle it all. The Huskies will be in the hunt for the 6A title and Fritz will be the leader.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>F – [player_tooltip player_id='1270287' first='Will' last='Thengvall'], 6-foot-3 forward, 2024, Kapaun Mt. Carmel:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's a shame to leave this guy off the first team, but what can you do? His do-it-all production for the Crusaders has them ranked #2 in 5A. They've been knocking on the door of the title the past couple of seasons. Is this the year Thengvall leads them all the way? He's racking up 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists per contest.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>F - [player_tooltip player_id='1588348' first='Keaton' last='Wagler'], 6-foot-5 guard, 2025, Shawnee Mission Northwest:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>So far, the Prep Hoops Mid-season All-Stars have all been seniors. But we had to have someone represent the high-flying Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars, and the best of them is Wagler. His combination of length, athleticism and accuracy from deep make him a special weapon for the deep and versatile Cougars, who are currently ranked #2 in 6A. Wagler doesn't go off for a ton of points because he's playing in the system and getting everyone involved. But don't miss that he's hitting a ridiculous 48% from deep.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>C - [player_tooltip player_id='1270292' first='Bryce' last='Beisner'], 6-foot-5 forward, 2024, Beloit:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We have loved this guy since his freshman season, and he's never disappointed. He has his team sitting #1 in 3A at the middle of the season. He's a fundamental big who can put the ball on the court to get his own shot, post up and finish around the rim or in the midrange. He showed what he can do against the big school boys with 22 against Olathe North in the Trojans' lone loss. He's a consistent scorer and dominant rebounder.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
