Angelo was a man amongst boys at times on the court. He looked strong getting to the rim off fastbreak plays elevating for dunks and putbacks. His strength and motor could not be matched. Ciaravino finished with 10 points and a handful of rebounds in the win.
Gabriel Sularski

In a game that was a struggle for Benet to score early on they got a lift from its most talented player Sularski in the second quarter. Gabe capitalized off Caravan turnovers to help his teams’ dry spell. As the game went on he got some touches on the baseline where he knocked down two shots. He later caught a pass at the top of the key and turned it into a drive down the middle of the lane for a bucket. He finished with a team-high 13 points.
Gianni Cobb

The cat-quick guard started the game with its first points as he swiped DePaul’s guard and treated himself to 2 easy points. Later in the game with his team down Cobb hit a big three a few feet off the arc. He helped Homewood Flossmoor open their lead up to double digits at one point turning the corner and getting to the rim with a handoff at the top of the key. He led the Vikings in scoring with 13 points.

McElroy played well in spurts offensively but was more effective as a defender through the course of the game. Jaylan did most of his scoring around the basket some with post touches the others cleaning up missed shots. What I liked about McElroy is the versatility to guard multiple positions on the court and continue to play with a high motor. At times he would close out on guys shooting on the perimeter and hustle to the paint to challenge whoever had the rebound. One aspect that I expect to see Jaylan improve is his free throws as he missed too many but still led all scorers with 17 points.
Grant Best

As one of the unsung heroes of the game Best was active on both sides of the ball. On offense Grant was left open several times as Ciaravino and Cam Thomas garnered most of the attention. He was able to find open spots in the defense making mid-range shots and three-pointers. As a defender Best got his hands on some steals that led to fastbreaks but also contested hard to block a shot with excellent strong side help defense. Grant led his team in scoring with 15 points in the win.

Porter looked the part as a physical rebounder whose wide frame is tough to defend once he has you planted on his back. Fed off

Big fan of Carson. He is a mismatch problem for most guys as he can beat you off the dribble or plant you on his back posting smaller or weaker guys in the paint. In the win over DePaul he did both in a stretch that helped Homewood-Flossmoor take a lead and never look back.
Blake Fagbemi

– Benet 2025
Blake gave a small spark off the bench for the Redwings. He made a big three to cut a double-digits lead to a single. Fagbemi also helped push the tempo to keep Benet within reach of the game. It was a very unusual game for Benet as they missed many open shots and just didn’t seem in tune. Blake helped stop some of the bleeding but it wasn’t enough.
