LA VERNE, Ca.--The Classic at Damien continued to show it's the ultimate holiday tournament on the West Coast due to its plethora of quality teams and stellar players, led by Tournament MVP [player_tooltip player_id='1630617' first='Brayden' last='Burries'] of Roosevelt.

In the following days, there will be numerous breakdowns of prospects ranging from High-Major Division 1 talents to junior college prospects under a bevy of categories. In this segment we'll focus on the best scorers, those of which can get a bucket for their team when needed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630628' first='Dillan' last='Shaw'] (Heritage Christian)

2025, PF, 6-foot-7, 195 pounds

Joel's Take: Shaw was arguably the most prolific scoring 4-man. The rangy 4/3 is a skilled player inside and out, albeit, not overly explosive. He can lead the break and slash his way to the rim or pull up and nail the jump shot. He can finish with either hand in the paint but needs to get stronger finishing through contact. He shows solid ball skills in the open court and in the half-court set his triple-threat game is pretty tight. His touch is smooth out to 20 feet and he just has a knack for scoring.

Gene Roebuck (La Mirada)

2027, WF, 6-foot-4, 190 pounds

Joel's Take: Roebuck plays with confidence and moxie well beyond his years. You don't see too many freshmen that act like an "alpha dog", but Roebuck does. He has excellent face-up skills where he uses his quick 1st step and/or jab step to get defenders off balance. He also utilizes the head-and-shoulder fake to get separation. He can finish with either hand and through contact. If the drive gets caught off he can knock down the 3-point shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502803' first='Aaron' last='Powell'] (Campbell Hall)

2024, PG, 6-foot-2, 170 pounds

Joel's take: Powell, who is headed to Cal Poly, can play both guard positions. He has a solid frame that shows ideal strength and his speed and quickness are D1-ready. He is at his best when his pull-up game is rolling, but he does tend to play in spurts and be streaky. Nonetheless, he can blitz up the court, stop on a dime, and nail the pull-up jump shot. He gets a good lift on his jump shot and he stays on balance. Not to mention he shows solid strength and bounce finishing in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502796' first='Darnez' last='Slater'] (Eastvale Roosevelt)

2024, SG, 6-foot-3, 175 pounds

Joel's take: Slater emerged during his junior campaign and had an excellent summer--which resulted in a Division 1 scholarship to Colorado State University. The slashing wing-type with a solid lengthy frame and a budding skill set had some outstanding moments at this event. He has a smooth shooting stroke out to the stripe and his release is tight. His length and bounce allow him to get around and over defenders at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956542' first='Kaiden' last='Bailey'] (Crean Lutheran)

2026, CG, 6-foot-3, 175 pounds

Joel's take: Bailey is one of the best sophomores in the West due to his scoring prowess. The bonafide shooting guard burst onto the scene as a freshman and has continued to get better and better. He plays with moxie and toughness and isn't afraid to take the big shot. His shooting stroke is effortless out to 22 feet and he has a knack for scoring in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630625' first='Aaron' last='Glass'] (Rancho Cucamonga)

2025, CG, 6-foot-2, 170 pounds

Joel's take: Glass can swing between the 1 and the 2 due to his versatile skill set, but he's a scorer. His jump shot is quite good off the catch from either corner and he can convert the pull-up at the elbow. He has a solid-looking frame with decent length and his quickness and overall speed are solid. His shot selection can be questionable at times and improving his facilitating skills in the half court set will improve his stock.
