Here are the top performers from the Granite City Classic games held at St. John's!

[player_tooltip player_id='2175459' first='Jack' last='Boos'] of Rocori (6'2 sr). [player_tooltip player_id='2175459' first='Jack' last='Boos'] knocked out six threes, made 10 of 14 foul shots, finished the game with a dunk, led his team with eight rebounds and played the primary ball handler role often. That is a full day's work and was certainly worth recognition as one of the best performances of the holiday season. Boos is a better ball handler, shooter, and competitor than I was aware. Very impressive game from the senior beating Grand Rapids.

[player_tooltip player_id='1579885' first='Nolan' last='Groves'] of Orono (6'3 jr). It would be hard to find a junior that is having a better year than [player_tooltip player_id='1579885' first='Nolan' last='Groves']. I am sure there are a couple that might be having as good or close to as good of a year, but nobody is playing better than Nolan in the junior class. He just brings so much to the table as a scorer (22 points), ball handler, creator (four assists), rebounder (7), and late game performer (made five of six foul shots to put the game away).

[player_tooltip player_id='1437303' first='Brogan' last='Madson'] of Mankato (6'1 jr). Madson's shifty attack, his body control into the finish, and his quickness off the dribble make him such a tough cover. He scored 18 points on a dozen attempts and eight foul shots plus Brogan had seven assists. It was his late game steal and finish followed by late foul shots that put East over Alexandria.

[player_tooltip player_id='1284168' first='Kyle' last='Mages'] of Osakis (6'3 sr). Kyle did some of everything allowing Osakis to cruise past Mandan - a North Dakota school with an enrollment of 1,150 - without too much of an issue. Mages played the role of ball handling press breaker, ball reversal passer into the cut, attacking scorer, and mid-range touch scorer. He had 22 points that included ten scores inside the arc. Mages is a versatile player with a strong frame that will be college ready.

[player_tooltip player_id='1355507' first='Carson' last='Schweim'] of Mankato East (6'6 sr). Carson is going to be an impact player at the D2 level. He has grown to at least 6'6 if not 6'7 and that shooting touch and intelligence of play is going to be valued. He finished the game with three threes and 13 points with six rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson'] of Alexandria (6'8 jr). In the first half Chase was fine but did not make a big impact. In the second half he went down low and completely dominated the game with his back to the basket. His catch and turn into the touch was unstoppable building to a 22 point night including finishes on six of his last eight attempts. He also dominated the glass with 14 rebounds. Chase is a stretch four man for sure but the fact that his response in this game was to do what it took for his team to compete said everything.

[player_tooltip player_id='1139594' first='Henry' last='Tschetter'] of Stewartville (6'4 jr). Henry scored his 19 points in a variety of ways: a turn around one hander, a three, a physical post bucket, a pull-up jumper, six of six at the foul line. I would say the biggest thing that Tschetter will bring to SJU next year - yes he played on his future college floor today - will be versatility. He is a guy that can handle, Henry can play with his back to the bucket on the block, he can hit the open three with feet set, and he can put the ball on the deck. He is a willing rebounder. An all around versatile player for Stewartville and in the future for SJU.

[player_tooltip player_id='1484016' first='Brady' last='Wooley'] of Orono (6'9 jr). With Stewartville playing zone with a big behind Brady and players collapsing, touches for Wooley were not common. But this opened up Groves, Kauch and Nate Chavez to drain open makes behind the arc. Wooley had 14 rebounds for the game and had four assists kicking the ball out of the post. He also scored on two of his three attempts and five of seven foul shots plus blocked three shots.
