5th Place - Carlsbad Cavemen (Team MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2879038' first='Shane' last='Sullivan'])

Carlsbad had potential to earn a bid in the winner's bracket, they just ended up with a rough first round matchup against the eventual champions Volcano Vista Hawks. They dominated their way through the Consolation Bracket, earning the top spot on that side. [player_tooltip player_id='2879038' first='Shane' last='Sullivan'] was Mr. Consistency for the Cavemen, hauling in rebounds left and right, including a 17-rebound performance against Del Norte. [player_tooltip player_id='1278069' first='Garren' last='Gossett'] and Jonathan Ontiveros combined to provide a much needed paint presence for Carlsbad, leading the team in points in the paint.

6th Place - Menaul Panthers (Team MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2147581' first='Nojus' last='Zalenekas'])

Menaul struggled throughout the tournament, but earned a win against Miyamura to keep them out of the last place game. Regardless of their struggles, Menaul showed flashes of why they should be considered one of the favorites to win 2A. Nojus Zalenekas continued to show his versatility at the point guard position as a do-it-all guard who uses his shiftiness and creativity to create for himself and his teammates. [player_tooltip player_id='2373607' first='Kazimieras' last='Giedraitis'] was on a tear from beyond the arc, seemingly not missing in Menaul's win.

7th Place - Del Norte Knights (Team MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1717253' first='Francois' last='Satchivi'])

Del Norte played with incredible heart and passion, unfortunately it wasn't enough to get them anywhere but the last place game, where they dominated Miyamura. [player_tooltip player_id='1717253' first='Francois' last='Satchivi'] showed his versatile scoring abilities, able to get buckets from anywhere and score in bunches. He's transformed into one of the best sophomore scorers in the state. [player_tooltip player_id='2293843' first='Jayden' last='Davis'] was able to contribute from beyond the arc once again, and showed another aspect of his game in his hustle and motor, causing problems for his opponents on the defensive end.

8th Place - Miyamura Patriots (Team MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2820016' first='Brody' last='Tah'])

Miyamura was incredibly close to earning their way into the 5th place game. A second half collapse however prevented them from such honors, and they fell to last place in the tournament after struggling against Del Norte. [player_tooltip player_id='2820016' first='Brody' last='Tah'] was one of the lone bright spots, playing solid fundamental basketball and causing trouble for opposing bigs inside the paint. [player_tooltip player_id='2373617' first='Shane' last='Platero'] was able to keep the Patriots in the game against Menaul with 15 pts and 3 stls, showing his patience and ability to run the offense for Miyamura.
