Yor Anei, a 6’10’’ 2018 Forward, played for Shawnee Mission South last year but is currently attending Lee Summit West, joining summer teammate Christian Bishop for his senior season.
“I think we’re going to make it to state” said Anei upon me asking for a season preview of Lee Summit West’s season.
They will certainly have a good chance with two top ten players in the state of Missouri according to the Prep Hoops Missouri rankings (Bishop #5, Anei #10).
Anei hangs his hat on his shot blocking ability which is something he said he’s been good at since he started playing basketball around seventh or eighth grade.
“For me it’s all instinct. I’ve always had a knack for disrupting shots.”
Although Anei is a natural rim protector, he says he is working on becoming more of a stretch four.
Work that has become more evident this summer as Anei received some social media attention for a strong showing in the 3-point contest at the Hoop Focus “KC vs The Lou” event.
Interestingly enough, Anei is missing his middle and index finger on his right (non-shooting) hand which were lost in an accident when he was very young.
However, you will you never hear him use this as an excuse nor does it stand in his way of attracting interest at the next level.
Heading into his senior season, Anei has current offers from Southern Illinois, UAB, Central Arkansas, and the University of Denver.
He is drawing interest from Missouri State, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, and Southern Utah but has yet to take any visits, official or unofficial.
“I want to be at a school that allows me to come in and have an immediate impact while making me a more polished player.”
The 2018 season is shaping up to be an exciting one for Lee Summit West and a fruitful senior year for Yor Anei.
