Now we come to some of the top twosomes in 3A (in no particular order):
Sabetha – Marcus Bauman Marcus Bauman 6'0" | CG Sabetha | 2024 State KS (pictured) and Christian McAfee Christian McAfee 6'4" | PF Sabetha | 2024 State KS :
Sabetha graduated a ton of talent and experience from what was one of the best teams in the state. Now it’s time for Bauman and McAfee, solid role players the past several years, to assume leadership of the team. Bauman is a warrior who can shoot from deep and also attacks defenses in transition. He’s a fine ball handler and playmaker. McAfee has focused primarily on rebounding and defense thus far in his career, but he’s a tough, springy athlete who is capable of being more of an offensive threat.
Wellsville – Willie Dorsey Willie Dorsey 6'2" | SG Wellsville | 2024 State KS and Dezmond Winton Dezmond Winton 5'7" | PG Wellsville | 2024 State KS :
Wellsville returns a natural scorer in Dorsey, and a natural playmaker in Winton. Winton is a high-energy stat-sheet stuffer at the point. He can create his own shots and get hoops in transition. But he can also distribute and stir up a lot of trouble on defense. Dorsey uses his gliding style to slash through defenses to shots in the midrange. He can score at all three levels and gets to the free throw line.
Beloit – Bryce Beisner Bryce Beisner 6'7" | PF Beloit | 2024 State KS and Quinn Eilert:
A really good team last year with nearly everyone back, the Trojans will be led seniors Beisner and Eilert. Beisner expects to be one of the best bigs in 3A. He blocks shots and rebounds and is an efficient scorer. Eilert is a big guard who can handle the ball and distribute, but also rebounds and defends effectively. With a lot of experience back, these guys should make a push for the state tournament.
Norton – Roman Hauser Roman Hauser 6'4" | SF Norton Community | 2024 State KS and Eli Jones Eli Jones 6'2" | SF Norton | 2025 State KS :
The Bluejays had a nice season last year, led by the sophomore Jones and junior big man Hauser. Though they lost a lot of seniors, hopes are high with these two back to lead. Hauser is an athletic center/forward who can run and step out to shoot the three. Jones, though just a junior, has already played a ton of varsity basketball, with a lot of success. He’s an active defender and playmaker who stretches defenses by taking several threes per game.
Goodland – Brady Brumbaugh Brady Brumbaugh 6'5" | SG Goodland | 2025 State KS and Linkon Cure Linkon Cure 6'5" | PF Goodland | 2025 State KS :
Goodland has a fine senior class ready to lead this season. But juniors Brumbaugh and Cure stand to be the difference makers. Brumbaugh is a big guard who can also play off the ball and body up in the midrange. Even bigger and more explosive is Cure, who is blowing up as a football recruit. These two will be mismatch nightmares for opponents – big, athletic men who can do creative things with the ball.
