Expert Analysis
Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
Gabe is a true point guard for his Sixers Elite team. He’s an unselfish player who understands the personnel around him, and knows how to get them all involved. In the game I watched he was finding his long and athletic wings slashing to the basket in transition, and in the half-court knew how to get his shooters the ball in pockets of space. Gabe finds ways to get two feet in the paint, force defenders to collapse on him, and locate an open man. Defensively he’s a scrappy on-ball defender who’s going to be the first one on the floor for a loose ball.

Put on an efficient scoring performance in team’s first game of weekend. Hands and feet are triggered for catch and shoot opportunities on the perimeter. Tallied him for 4 3’s total at a high clip and in a confident manner. Attacked closeouts going to the rim more in second half and showed more versatility to draw fouls or finish. Came off a ball screen and knocked down a mid range pull up jumper. A 3 level scorer who will impact as a combo guard.

Gabe is as scrappy as they come on the defensive end. He’s one of those players who you just know is going to be the first one on the floor anytime there’s a loose ball in his area. For the entire time I watched Gabe was sitting deep in a stance and picking up opposing point guards the length of the floor. Even against a Minnesota Fury team that features some talented point guards, Gabe was comfortable out there on an island defending on his own.

Moving without the basketball and finding openings against the Little Chute paid dividends for Servais the Riverhawks of La Crosse Central in their win over Little Chute. Servais had six three-point baskets and 20 points as La Crosse Central posted a convincing victory. You leave the three-year varsity performer open on the perimeter at your own peril and Littler Chute found out the hard way that it’s not a good idea. On defense, Servais used his quickness, physical strength and stamina to guard with success throughout the contest.

The thing that stood out most about Servais in the Sixers Elite ‘ come-from-behind win over MTXE Premier was his unwavering confidence. Shaking off a slow start that included several missed shots and a couple of turnovers, Servais put his game into an extra gear in the second half as he scored, distributed, rebounded and defended at a very high level. Servais, a two-year varsity performer at La Crosse Central, finished the game with 18 points as the 26ers rallied from a five-point halftime deficit.

Lightning quick guard that was coming up with plays on both ends of the floor for Wisconsin 26ers. So good at sitting deep in a stance and moving his feet laterally to apply pressure to opposing guards, before picking his moment to poke the ball free for a steal. From there he had the breakaway speed to get all the way to the rim and finish. In the half-court he excelled at beating his initial defender off the dribble to get two feet in the paint. He was then able to locate open shooters or finish off of two feet on his own.

All good teams have good team players who know how to compete and make winning plays for their team. Servais does all of those things for the 26ers. His steady play, ability to make good reads with the ball in his hands, and his shot-making skill at big moments were instrumental in helping the 26ers win the 16U championship at The Rock Spring Classic. A two-year varsity performer at La Crosse Central, Servais joined Bahr on the all-Mississippi Valley Conference second team. He averaged just over 12 ppg as a sophomore and his consistent play on both ends of the court helped the Riverhawks improve throughout the season.
