Power Center Academy won't lack talent at two important positions: guard and forward.

I sat in on the Knights' open gym session on Tuesday.

Here are four prospects who will be very important to PCA's success in 2023:

Nazir Allen

The 6-foot-8 senior forward is going to be a matchup nightmare because of his length and athleticism. Allen has made strides with his ball handling. He's more-than-capable of making shots from the perimeter, so being a legit stretch power forward is what many people are going to see once the 2023 season gets here. Allen communicates well on the floor and moves well without the basketball. He has to be productive each night in order for the Knights to reach the TSSAA Division 1 Class 3A state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1964764' first='Marquis' last='Tunstall']

Tunstall is going to take a lot of attention off [player_tooltip player_id='1308269' first='Nazir' last='Allen']. As the team's point guard, Tunstall does some small things well (communication and ball placement) plus he's lightening fast, with the ability to finish at the rim. Tunstall can make shots from the perimeter. He's one of a few guards in the 2024 class with the capabilities of scoring at all three levels.

Jayden Johnson

Johnson is a sophomore guard who's going to help offensively. At 5-9, Johnson isn't afraid to take shots. He's going to shoot with confidence. It seems to be instilled in him. As long as the shots fall, Johnson will be a plus for this program.

[player_tooltip player_id='2043463' first='AJ' last='Polk']

The 2027 class is starting to look more and more promising, especially at the guard spot. Justin Frison, Elijah Lowe, Greg Spight, and now [player_tooltip player_id='2043463' first='AJ' last='Polk']. Polk, a lefty point guard, has a chance to be a good player. Early on, he sees the floor well. Polk knows how to finish at the rim. He can push the basketball in transition. I like Polk's awareness on the floor. He knows where his teammates are. During the open gym session, he made an outlet pass to a teammate for an uncontested layup. Polk didn't hesitate on the pass. He got off of it quickly. Polk is showing early how good of a point guard he can be once he puts everything together.
