Gio Quiles is an elite shooter. In this game, if given any room Gio would light it up from outside. His release is high and fast, and the arc and touch on his shot is very promising. He showed an ability to pull from very deep ranges with contesting defenders in his face. His shot never wavered when pressure was put on him by defenders. He connects off the catch consistently and spaces the floor at an elite level. This shooting threat provided him with many hard closeouts, which he was extremely adept at attacking and getting downhill. On his drives he displayed an ability to embrace contact and carve out space with his body for tough finishes at the rim. He finished multiple and-ones in this game, showing his ability to finish through and around contact. He was a great connective passer in this game as well, always keeping the ball moving. And he offered high feel and awareness on the defensive end as well. He was always in position and would catch opponents lacking, ripping the ball from them once they lost sight of him. Gio Quiles does a little bit of everything at a high level, especially shooting.

Gio Quiles showed his high-level offensive feel at June Jam. Gio was extremely smart and patient under the rim. He used pump fakes and hop steps to create open looks for himself down low, and converted on these shots at a high clip. Gio showed that he is a decisive driver and scorer, using his shoulders to bump off defenders and get rim finishes or pull-up mid-range buckets. Gio was also very active on the boards throughout this event, and showed his great ability to be a decision maker in an offense, making great reads and finding many open teammates with timely passes. Gio Quiles was always making the right play at June Jam, and that is where he thrives.

Quiles was really, really good on Saturday, especially on the offensive end of the floor. He’s a strong, physical wing who can bully his way to the rim and finish through contact with either hand, and he showed good footwork on his drives, flashing one of the better Euro steps of any player in the gym. He shoots it at a high clip off both the dribble and the catch, with good form and rotation on his shot. He rebounds well on both ends from his perimeter spot, and is a solid team defender.
