Class of 2018 Small College Wings
With the high school season just around the corner it is now a great time for D3/NAIA programs to check out what prospects in the state of Illinois fit in their program! Here are 10 prospects that we like at the small college level.
SF Calvin Fisher (Monticello)
Fisher broke out in July with his play for the Illinois Irish. 6’6” small forward that can really shoot the basketball. He was lights out with his perimeter jumper and that opened up a lot of eyes. Impact small college recruit.
SG Ryan Kutsor (Lake Zurich)
Kutsor is a player that we have liked for a while. Right on that low D2/high D3 line. Tough as nails player that competes, rebounds, and can hit shots especially when spotting up.
SG Eric Peterson (Batavia)
Peterson is an under the radar wing that played for Tri City Thunder. Like what he brings to the table on both ends. Defensively his length bothers opponents and gets under their skin. Offensively he can hit a jumper and is a skilled passer.
SG Ryan Martin (Fremd)
Martin is a prospect that doesn’t wow you, but just goes about his business and gets stuff done. Stat sheet stuffer that contributes in points, rebounds, steals, and assists. Skilled wing offensively can also get after it on the defensive end of the floor.
SG Caleb Frederking (Okawville)
The 6’2” two guard has a quick release on a plus jump shot. Dead eye shooter that can get really hot from deep. Loves to stop and pop from mid-range. Moves well without the ball and has an effortless feel to his game. Crisp movements. Most likely he will be a high level D3/NAIA player.
SF William “Grif” Ryan (New Trier)
Ryan is a floor spacing forward that can shoot it from the perimeter. Mixes in drives on occasion and plays with a lot of toughness. Versatile combo forward at the small college level that will be a great glue guy.
SG Ryan Saunders (Joliet Central)
Saunders is a player that is super athletic and uses that athleticism to rebound and defend. Usually doesn’t wow you with his offensive production, but what he brings on the boards and defensively mean a lot to his team’s success. Can hit an occasional three.
SG Joffari Brown (St. Joseph’s)
Brown is a junk yard dog wing player that works best in the mid-range. The senior from St. Joe’s can hit a mid-range jumper with the best of them and rebounds well despite not being overly athletic.
SF Jace Link (Pekin)
Link does the little things that make a team better. That was evident when we saw him again in July with the Illinois Irish. Makes winning basketball plays and can shoot it when left open.
SF Damond Crosby (Salem)
Crosby is a sleeper from southern Illinois. Not many people know about his small forward who has a lot of upside with an uber smooth offensive game and the ability to score at all three levels. With him it is all about being consistent and playing with a motor, but he has impact talent at the small college level.
