STOCK RISERS: KC Shooting Guards Guards (2018)
Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some KC area shooting guards who raised their stock during the July evaluation period.
STOCK RISERS: KC Shooting Guards Guards (2018)
Ochai Agbaji, 6’3, SG, 2018, Oak Park (Mo.) MoKan Elite
Talented guard who can play above the rim as evidenced by his recent slam dunk championship at the KC vs. St. Louis game last weekend. He is a good outside shooter who handles the ball well and had a strong showing playing with MoKan Elite in the EYBL. On July 15 he picked up an offer from Fresno State. He also holds offers from Air Force, Miami (Ohio) and UMKC.
Ronnie Bell, 6’2, SG, 2018, Park Hill (Mo.) Team Rush
After earning his first offer from Missouri State earlier in the summer, Bell picked up offers from Drake and Long Island in late July. He is a terrific athlete that can get to the rim and has a smooth looking 3-point stroke.
Latroy Harper, 6’2, SG, 2018, Penney (Mo.) MoKan Select
Doesn’t really get the attention he deserves, but Harper is a two-sport standout that excels on the hardwood and the football field. He is an athletic guard that is at his best slashing to the basket and has the ability to throw down dunks in transition.
Rigley Ness, 6’0, SG, 2018, Barstow (Mo.) KC Team Rush
Another shooting guard that doesn’t get a lot of hype but is a nice all-around player. Has a strong, athletic frame with good size and does a lot of things well. Is solid with the ball, can shoot from the outside and has a high basketball IQ. Will be a big part of Barstow’s success this season after suffering big losses to graduation.
Mason Taylor, 6’3, SG, 2018, Grandview (Mo.) KC Pacers
Taylor really had a strong July evaluation performance at Jayhawk Invitational. He is a smooth guard with good size and an all-around skill set. He can handle the ball, get into the lane and shoot from the outside. He is at his best playing the 2, but can also slide over and handle point guard duties,
RJ Lawrence, 6’0, SG, 2018, Blue Springs (Mo.) Team Rush
Lawrence is a solid, all-around guard with a smooth left handed shooting stroke who can get hot and really light up the scoreboard from 3-point range. Shoots it from deep, but can also get to the bucket and finish among the trees.
