Program MVP: Kyle King
Who was the MVP of each grassroots team program this past spring and summer? This might not necessarily be the best player although in many cases it is. We are looking at the player from Illinois that elevated their game and stepped up when it mattered most taking both themselves and their teams to the next level.
Tri City Thunder was one of my favorite groups to watch grow as a team the last three summers. As a 15U group they upset teams with more highly ranked and better known players. They were doing the same at the 17U level this summer. Very well rounded group, but by far and away their go to player was St. Charles North 2018 power forward Kyle King. We have been big fans of this skilled post for a while, but he even elevated his game more this spring and summer. King put his team on his back for stretches in games and even tournaments. What he does best is go to work on the block. He isn’t the most athletic prospect, but his array of fundamentally sound post moves and soft touch are what allows him to score against bigger defenders. Excellent footwork with this prospect who should be a D2 recruit.
Congratulations to St. Charles North 2018 power forward Kyle King on winning the PrepHoopsIllinois Program MVP for Tri City Thunder.
