The high school season is still about two months away but PrepHoops’s Justin Byerly has an early look at one of the teams that should contend for a SCHSL Upper State Championship.
The Greenville High School Red Raiders will have nine players returning from a team that finished 19-3 last year, including 3 starters. The Red Raiders will be strong contenders to for the SC 4A upper state championship. They will be playing in their own Christmas tournament (Poinsettia Classic) 12/27-12/29 and also the MLK Preps Hoops Showcase on 1/15/18 which will feature Christ School (Asheville, NC) and Norcross HS (GA).
Key players for 2017-2018:
Quade Parks 6’2 G/F, SR.– 2016-2017 All-Conference selection. He is an excellent two-way player. Very good at getting to the rim and versatile defender. He’s a ferocious competitor.
Wells Hoag 6’3 PG/SG, SR.– 2016-2017 3rd team All County Selection. Returning leading scorer with tremendous range on jump-shot. An excellent 3-point shooter who is also a crafty ball handler.
Dorian Williams 6’0 PG. JR.– Excellent two-way player with great court vision. Athletic PG who is a lock-down defender and very good at getting to rim, and a great rebounder from the PG position.
Jimmy Fritzsche 6’6 F, JR.– Jimmy is very solid post player who is fundamentally sound. Very smart player who plays extremely calm. Can finish with either hand around the rim.
Jaquarious Jones 6’2 215 G/F, FR.– A freshman player with tremendous upside. Possesses excellent court vision and big-time play making ability. Very high IQ and rebounds the ball extremely well on both ends.
