The guards from Part I are players who should make large contributions to their varsity teams or will be the floor generals for their team this fall. Part II will feature one all district/area player. The other players in this article are players who are up and coming players who will make their mark in future seasons. There are a number of good guards in Louisiana and the players in this piece will definitely be players to know going forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1492965' first='Chase' last='Meeking'] (Union Parish | 6'1" | 2025) - Meeking has consistently been one of the better guards at Prep Hoops events and he did not disappoint in Baton Rouge. He defended in the half court and was a high level finisher on the offensive end. His ability to guard in one-on-one and create turnovers made him one of the top achievers on the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2025206' first='Kortlan' last='Williams'] (David Thibodaux | 6'0" | 2027) - Williams will possibly be the best point guard in this class when it is said an done. He played the point to near perfection with a loaded squad in Baton Rouge. His head was constantly up either looking ahead on the break or running the half court offense. Williams made plays for his teammates consistently which made him stand out from others.

[player_tooltip player_id='2132658' first='Kaleb' last='Brown'] (McKinley | 5'6" | 2025) - Brown showed his mettle during his time at the Prep Hoops Top 250. He was that guard that defended whoever played the one or the two and hounded them all over the floor. Brown proved to be very capable of getting to the rim and taking hits. He is as tough as they get and will make McKinley a hard team to beat due to his defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2132739' first='Dimitry' last='Baylor-Nard II'] (Evangel | 5'6" | 2027) - Evangel has a solid back up point in Baylor-Nard. He proved that he can handle the ball in the half court and in transition. His ability to find players with various passes was high level stuff. Baylor-Nard can manipulate defenses with his handle and size which makes him a player with a ton of potential. He is definitely a player to look out for.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543654' first='Joseph' last='Spann'] (Lincoln Prep | 6'1" | 2026) - The Top 250 was not a coming out party for Spann. However, it did show that he has improved explosion to the rim and makes him a treat attacking the rim. Spann is also very good in open floor defending as well as half court. His ability to get into passing lanes with his quick hands make him an individual break waiting to happen. Spann can take over a game with his offensive prowess and will have the chance under Coach Hudson.

Look for these guards to be prominent players with their individual high schools this season. They will definitely be players to watch and see grow as the season goes along.
