Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase Player Evaluations: Team 19

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase has become an annual event that rivals any put on throughout the year in the Hoosier State. On Sunday afternoon and evening at Fishers High School nearly 200 of the states best Class of 2027 prospects came to display their skills in front of many of the most influential people in Indiana High School Basketball. This event is the premier way to get “on the radar” prior to your high school career. Over the next week or so it will become clear why we always say “nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops Indiana.” With that said, here are the player evaluations from Team 19 of the 2023 Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>***With nearly 200 prospects at our event, our scouting staff (of three people) divided up the 20 teams to ensure that we could get evaluations of every player. However, as you can imagine, this is not the easiest task. Our staff watched each team they were assigned to for a minimum of one full game. There were some late player additions and walk-ups that threw a wrench into some rosters as well. Oguntunde is a 5'11u0022 guard that showed impressive athleticism when he would crash the glass from the perimeter to help in the rebounding efforts. He was also effective in transition and when attacking closeouts from the wing. At the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase on Sunday he was able to standout be presenting some real toughness and grittiness as a smaller player. He handled the ball without turning it over offensively and would hold his own on the ball defensively. The 6'1u0022 [program_tooltip program_id='2078452' first='[program_tooltip program_id='2076932' first='Richmond' last='']' last=''] High School product attacks closeouts well off of the dribble, had tough off-hand finish at the rim, and crashed the offensive glass hard on both ends of the floor. There are some physical tools to work with and his motor stands out, especially at a showcase type event. Miller has good size on the perimeter and is incredibly fluid when running the floor or operating with the ball in the half court. He can make some plays against closeouts, has a smooth outside shot, and can get up and finish around the rim at the end of his drives. He was carving through the defense in transition going coast-to-coast after rebounds, dominating around the paint when he would drive it, and was effective on the defensive end of the floor. The 6'2u0022 wing from Cathedral High School is such a fluid athlete and possesses some serious long-term potential. Bangs can finish with his back to the basket and flashed some face-up ability as well when he was out on the perimeter. He proved his ability to play on or off of the ball in the backcourt as he handled the ball well but also cut hard and read screening action well. His ability to attack closeouts led to some playmaking opportunities and he more than held his own on the defensive end of the floor as well. He handles the ball well for his size, was able to get to the basket and finish with both hands at the end of his drives, and looked fluid when shooting from the perimeter. Welker has the potential to be a three-level scorer that will only continue to get better on both ends of the floor as he adds strength.
