Recruiting Report: Zac Fincher (2018)

They don’t make a lot of big man like Zac Fincher particularly in Northern Minnesota. So he sought out a challenge.
Fincher, a 6-foot-7 center from Stephen-Argyle, spent the spring and summer going to-to-toe with some of the best big men in the state and Midwest, playing for Comets Little.
A team that enjoyed it’s share of success, Comets Little got quality play from its collection of big men, led by Fincher.
“[It went] pretty good,” Fincher said of the season. “I think we were better towards the end of the year but good overall.”
Fincher plays a simple game in that he doesn’t try to do too much. While chemistry is something many teams strive to attain throughout the grassroots season, Fincher’s ability to be productive wasn’t reliant on establishing great chemistry with his teammates. It certainly helped especially later in the year, but Fincher is a low-maintenance type of player. He stays in his lane and handles his business. He defends the paint, sets hard picks, rolls hard to the rim and crashes the glass.
Fincher doesn’t get a chance to go up against great big men on a regular basis during his high school season. So getting out and playing AAU was important for his development.
“That’s the main reason I play AAU,” said Fincher. “There aren’t alot of guys around here that compare to me size wise so it’s good to go out and see guys that are just as big, just as strong, more skilled.”
It looks to have paid off because Fincher’s drawn a lot of college interest thanks to stellar play.
“Concordia-Moorhead has talked to me a lot,” said Fincher. “Winona State, BSU, MSU have all talked to me too. A couple other D3s as well. I plan on visiting a lot of those schools soon but haven’t had a chance to yet.”
