Around the State : Lancaster County
Prep Hoops SC takes a look at Lancaster County in the Upstate. Lancaster County produced current Los Angeles Clippers and South Carolina Gamecock Sindarius Thornwell.
Dontarius James (2018) – Andrew Jackson HS (Kershaw)
James recently picked up a scholarship offer from Kansas and Head Coach Bill Self. James has decided to leave Andrew Jackson HS for Huntington Prep (WV) this coming season. James should be leaving any day. James scored 1,717 career points and grabbed 944 rebounds for the Volunteers. James averaged 27.3 ppg and 12.5 rebounds this past season. TCU recently offered James also a scholarship.
James played AAU this July period with the South Carolina Supreme and Zion Williamson. James was ranked #4 in the 2018 South Carolina Class before his departure.
Jerrick Palmer (2018) – Indian Land HS
Palmer really has no position on the floor. Palmer is always around the ball on both ends of the floor. Palmer likes to attack the rack. Palmer averaged 11.5 ppg last season.
Remington Totten (2018) – Lancaster HS
Totten played AAU with Upward Stars York County this AAU season. Totten plays hard on both ends of the floor. Totten really rebounds the ball well.
Shamon Alston (2019) – Indian Land HS (pictured on front)
Alston played with Upward Stars Southeast 2019 this AAU season. Alston 6’4 is a big guard that has great elevation on his shot. Alston has the ability to create his own shot or get to the rack. Alston gets his hands on many balls in the passing lanes. Alston averaged 18.1 ppg last season fro the Warriors.
Destin Clark (2020) – Indian Land HS
Clark is a physical specimen for such a young age. Clark who is built like a tank has a very thick frame. Clark is versatile to play 1-4 positions on the floor. Clark prefers to score his points around the basket and must work on his perimeter skills. Clark played AAU with Team Charlotte 15U this AAU season. Clark averaged 9.2 ppg last season.
Omazeon Tinsley (2021) – Lancaster HS
Tinsley 5’4 point guard played last season at A.R. Rucker M.S. Prep Hoops first saw Tinsley playing AAU with Team United this spring in York, SC. Tinsley can really penetrate the gaps and get into the lane. Tinsley has the ability to change speeds very well in the front court.
Ojay White (2021) – Andrew Jackson HS (Kershaw)
White 5’9 point guard is a pesky defender. White saw minutes last season as a 8th grader for the Volunteers. White will play football this season in the Volunteers backfield.
Mikial Fourney (2018) – Lewisville HS (Richburg) – We added Lewisville here
We threw Lewisville HS in here just because they stand all by themselves. Fourney helped Lewisville HS to the A State Championship Game last season before falling to Hemingway. Fourney 6’1 left-handed guard with great length will look to lead the Lions on the hardwood this season. Fourney also plays cornerback/safety on the football field.
