Recruiting Report: Calvin Fisher (2018)
One of the small college breakout players in July was Calvin Fisher on the Illinois Irish 17U. The 6’6” Monticello wing has plus size for the position with a strong build. Fisher shoots the ball well from three especially off the catch. Also has the ability to mix in a mid-range jumper on occasion. Plays hard and really competes on every possession. Will need to improve lateral quickness on the defensive end. Fisher is a quality small college prospect.
What is his mindset on the offensive end going into games?
“I try to find my shot early in the game and then take it to the hoop.”
He spoke about June getting back together with his high school team.
“I had a great June with my high school team. We will be really good next year. Last year we made a run to state and got 4th place. This year we hope we can go back to Peoria.”
What will his role be for Monticello this year?
“The leader. I led last year I felt. I want to come back with more enthusiasm and go back to Peoria again.”
He updated us on where things stand with the recruiting process.
“UMSL, Monmouth, Millikin, and a bunch of schools near the Champaign area where I live.”
