Recruiting Report: Messiah Jones (2018)
Simeon 2018 power forward Messiah Jones is one of the most athletic and competitive kids in the rising senior class. What he lacks in ideal height at only 6’5” he makes up for with athleticism and toughness. Jones is super bouncy around the hoop and is a monster getting on the offensive glass. Quick around the hoop and is improving his face up game.
Jones played well with Caron Butler on the circuit in July. He broke down where things stand with recruiting.
“It has gone well. I have picked up some offers from Northern Illinois, Drake, Chicago State, and Wisconsin Milwaukee.”
He went into more detail on each of those four programs.
Drake
“They always reach out to me. They always show love to me and my family. I took a visit there and they showed a lot of hospitality. The team showed a lot of love and treated me like I was one of their own.”
Northern Illinois
“Same thing with Northern Illinois. They have had a lot of interest in me before. I really enjoy that school because I watch them a lot.”
UW-Milwaukee
“With Pat Baldwin I can really relate to him. He is a great coach. Coming from Northwestern he is really trying to work on players and develop them.”
Chicago State
“They are my hometown so I have to show them love. With Kezo (Brown) going there we have been going at it since 6th grade. Playing with him in high school he is a great shooter.”
Some other schools showing interest include Cleveland State, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, and SIU-Edwardsville.
Any schools he knows he wants to get out to for visits?
“I would like to visit Northern Illinois to see how their campus is. I heard academically they are excellent. They have a really great school.”
