This class has completed a season of high school and grassroots basketball. Many will continue to develop and expand their games, while others will play their way off the watch list and into the rankings. There’s also new players we haven’t yet seen that will be added. Here at PH NorCal we make every effort to see as many prospects as we can.
The highest ranked newcomer that can go higher as he progresses through high school. He’s 6’3 long, fast, and still growing. He’s a scoring guard that can fill the net in different ways. Using a combination of ball handling skills and speed makes him hard to guard in transition and in space. He can get to the basket and finish. He has a smooth jumper he can hit from mid-range. He’s long with good intensity on the defensive side of the ball.
He’s one of the fastest guards in the group using his speed to jet around the court putting pressure on the defenses and causing problems for those trying to stay in front of him. He has superb handles, can score coming at you from a variety of ways. He’s a confident player who can stop on the dime for mid-range jumpers, he’ll drop a 3ptr, and disrupt on the defensive side.
He’s a 6’9 physically fit body that looks ready to dominate the paint area. We’ll give him time to polish up his individual skill set. He jumps well, defends the paint with good effort, he’ll get rebounds, and hustle up court. His size and strength will produce points in the paint at this level, you can lob it to him. He’ll have to continue developing his offensive package.
The 6’8 Center has good fundamental skills for the post position right now. He has good activity in the paint, defending his position, changing and going after blocks, he boxes out to get rebounds, keeps the ball high. He has good balance going up off two feet, he’ll finish around the rim. He has a paint jumper. He’s a good passer.
Highlights
He’s long and wiry still developing his skill set like others in this group. He has immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball. He has good length and bounce to rebound and block shots, a quick jumper. At 6’7 he’s more of a wing type player who’ll slash, cut and finish in transition in different ways around the basket including dunks. He has length and foots speed to defend outside and in. He can hit the short jumper.
He’s on the thin side but has the handles, toughness, and mind set to run the point guard position. He’s probably a pass first right now. He sets the team in half-court, pushes and passes in transition. He has vision, can penetrate the paint for floaters, and jumpers. He has a mid-range off the dribble. He has the lengthy arms and foot speed to defend on ball. He has 3pt range
He’s a solid body guard with good ball handling skills. He can operate with or without the ball, cutting and slashing going up strong off two in the paint. He can go get a bucket working along the perimeter using his body and hard dribble drives to attack and finish through traffic in the paint. He has the handles and willingness to facilitate in the half-court. He defends with good intensity and will help on the boards.
Highlights
We’ll put him in the versatile category for now. He stands around 6’2 he’s a good rebounder at the 15/16u level. He defends with strength, and toughness in the post, and foot speed on the perimeter. He has a good offensive skill set, but could use some sharpening. He’ll take it hard on the dribble, finish through contact and in transition. He’ll get inside buckets on the put back. He has a jump shot.
