One of the most productive in that sense was Good Counsel guard Neiko Mundey Neiko Mundey 6'2" | PG Shabach Christian | 2026 State MD . The 6-foot-3 dynamic rising sophomore spent the spring and summer showcasing his talent further on the 3SSB Circuit, where he helped lead his team to a 15U title. Mundey was also among the standouts at DMV Live during the June scholastic live period.
“Our weekend started out strong down in Rock Hill,” Mundey told Prep Hoops. “We played some good teams to eventually win the championship. We did a good job of getting a lead early and controlling the game. We played Utah Prospects, who was a good team, but they had trouble stopping us. We got pushed in a few games, but it always felt like we always had control.”
Throughout the two sessions of DMV Live, Mundey averaged 18.5 points throughout eight games played. His best outing game in a tough win over St. Andrew’s where the guard registered 28 points (10/15 FG), four steals, four rebounds and three assists.
“I’m a two-way player. I can get a stop on defense, I can hit three’s, mid-range and get to where I want on offensive. I really just want to show people what I can do on defense and that I can lock up. On offense I can facilitate for my team as well.”
Mundey is the type of player that bring electricity to the gym. Every time he gets the ball, you’re thinking he’s going to make a play that wows you.
“I watch a lot of Devin Booker and recently I’ve been watching a lot of Jamal Murray. He gets to his spot quickly. My favorite player is Kevin Durant though, he’s always been my favorite.”
As a freshman playing in the WCAC for Good Counsel, it allowed Mundey to get thrown into the fire and earn his keep. Once spring rolled around, he focused on the areas of his game that he felt needed improvement.
“I’ve really grown in my ball handling and just understanding how to control the pace to the game. I’m getting better at getting my teammates open as well as just getting more athletic, faster and stronger.”
Mundey currently holds offers from East Carolina, Old Dominion and Towson.
“I never really had a dream school growing up. Whatever school wants to accept me for who I really am. I just want to be comfortable with wherever I choose when that time comes down the road.”
With a year under his belt, Mundey has gained the evident confidence in his overall game paired with the strength that comes through maturity and spending time in the weight room. He hopes it translates in helping his team as a sophomore.
“I want to win. I want to win games and play the right way. I want to continue to get offers from schools and just continue to get exposure,” Mundey said regarding his goals for the 2023-24 season.
Mundey currently ranks as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2026 MD/DC Player Rankings.
