Peach Jam Monday National Standouts

In this article I'll spotlight some national names who stood out to me in the process of scouting these local names. With great production scoring the ball from both the inside and the outside, Mitchell showed his 3-point shot and ability to take contact in the paint. Mitchell also had a sick bounce pass in transition to a teammate ahead for an easy finish. A big-time athlete, Cloer threw down an alley-oop slam that got the crowd hyped up. As a driver Cloer played with patience in the half-court and his euro-step in transition was the highlight move of the game. Asprilla takes up a ton of space in the paint and had a huge impact on both ends of the court. Defensively was where he really controlled the game early with a handful of blocks and preventing opposing guards from even looking to try and drive to the cup. On the offensive end, Asprilla had his most success simply attacking the offensive glass and using his size and strength advantage. Many times, Asprilla would either come down with the rebound or tap it up in the air and let another teammate come down with it. Offensively, Asprilla had a couple finishes over shorter defenders that were impressive but is currently a major work in progress in terms of decision making and finishing ability. In the first possession of the game, McAndrew ran off a screen and hit a movement 3-pointer from 25 feet out. That was a sign of things to come as the talented wing forward scored over 30 points in a victory. An elite shooter, McAndrew moved without the ball and could run off screens to launch from well beyond the 3-point arc. Knew how to play with and without the ball in his hands, ended up getting easy buckets off cuts and leakouts in transition. Sherrell has good hands, finishes around the rim and played hard, leading to a productive outing for a loaded squad in a victory that drew a packed house of fans, scouts and videographers. Covering a lot of ground defensively, Sherrell can really move his feet and protect the rim. His most impressive scoring play was when an alley-oop was thrown a little behind him and he reached back and dunked it in one fluid motion that showed off his length, bounce and hands in one play. Later in the game he started to flash the perimeter shot that you continue to see bits and pieces each time you watch him play. Definitely becoming a capable shooter and somebody you don't want to leave alone, Sherrell had a pick and roll where he hit a jumper with his foot just inside the 3-point line.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_5_player":["1738883"],"_player_evaluations_5_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_5_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_5_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_5_evaluation":"Drive Nation doesn't have the five stars or the paparazzi that some of the top 17 U Peach Jam qualifiers have, but they have a gritty group that plays the right way and is well coached and they found a way to start pool play with a win over Team Thad. Punch was a big part of their early success, using his versatility to score on the inside then step out to the perimeter. Early on he was using his strength in the paint to hop step and create space to score around the rim. After stepping out and hitting a 3-pointer, Punch was ran off the line and showed his ball handling and live dribble passing. Richmond came out hot early with a dunk that he took off super far away from the rim and extended to throw down and get the crowd going. After hitting a couple mid-range jumpers including a flyby, Richmond got downhill to the paint and finished with a quick lefty layup.
