This game was an absolute rock fight until Bravard got going in the third quarter. Southport led 17-16 at the half, but then this senior guard picked up the scoring with a trio of triples and 13 total points in the third quarter alone. He finished with a game-high 20 points for the Cardinals. Bravard is an athletic driver with enough game off of the dribble to get separation in one-on-one situations. He is an athletic finisher as well.

The IU-Columbus commit was as good as advertised in Southport’s Saturday afternoon win over Mooresville. Capable of playing on and off the ball, Malakai is a poised guard with the ball in his hands. He doesn’t get sped up and understands change of pace to get to his spots. Reliable three-point shooter that shoots it with deep range. Just an all around bucket getter that can score from any spot on the floor. Defensively he has the potential to be great in the ball and had a few steals, but likes to gamble and try to get easy buckets.

Bravard is an explosive guard that can attack off of the dribble and elevate to finish around the rim at the end of his drives. The 6’1″ senior at Southport High School showed some real flashes over the course of the summer with Legacy Ice Elite . His aggressiveness off of of the bounce and the ability to get to the rim consistently makes him an intriguing under-the-radar college prospect. After averaging 3.6 points per game for the Cardinals as a junior, Brevard could be ready for a breakout senior season.
