Calo has recently seen a spike in his recruitment with multiple Mountain East programs making him offers over the past few weeks. One of the most talented scorers available in Ohio’s 2025 class, it’s tough to find guards with Calo’s perimeter scoring and creation ability. Lutheran West has hit their stride and has racked up some recent signature wins and are looking to win a region after falling just short a year ago.

Calo came into this game and shot the lights out. He made big-time shots that gave Lutheran West a ton of momentum to start the game. He is a great catch-and-shoot player that makes you pay if you lose him. It’s easy to lose him because he has great off-ball movement and knows where to be around the arc. He creates shots for himself without even having the ball in his hands. He gets his feet set and it’s automatic. He got lost in transition a couple of times and made Harvest Prep pay. He has some good size and length and Calo uses this to be a factor on the boards and finish around the rim. Shows he can impact the game in more than one way.

Calo is one of the top unsigned seniors in Ohio and showed exactly why on Sunday with a dynamic scoring performance. Few players can match Calo’s shooting ability, creativity on the ball and size. I also like the fact Calo usually plays off two feet when he’s attacking the rim. Another part of his game that was on display was his ability to knock down shots off the catch, not needing to put the ball on the floor. I think Calo has a ton of offensive upside at the college level and Lutheran West might start to turn a corner heading into 2025.

An injury held Calo out almost his entire junior season with Mentor but he was back fully healthy for the spring and started to break out as a player to be known across Ohio. A high-level scorer who can create for himself and make shots off the dribble, Calo not only impressed at the grassroots level but also in June with Lutheran West. Calo will provide a nice addition with his length, shot making and gravity when the ball is in his hands for a Longhorns program that has lots of size and defensive pieces.

Fitting in nicely with a new school, Calo and his brother have made the move from Mentor to Lutheran West. A knockdown shooter from the outside, when Calo got time and space from 3-point range, it was going in. Despite missing a couple pieces, I was impressed with the Longhorns ability to move the ball and create second chances, that Calo converted at a high clip. If Lutheran West can continue to set Calo up with efficient looks with his feet set, he should find it easy to fit in with a talented roster.

A player who was injured for the majority of his Junior season of high school, it’s been refreshing to see Calo back on the court and playing at a high level. In a win over the Ohio Buckets , Calo was getting busy offensively. Getting to his spots in the mid-range, Calo was hitting defenders with jab steps and crossovers to find space to pull-up. In the half-court, Calo finished with his left hand off two feet, staying on balance off drives to the cup. Calo will be one of the top new names in our updated 2025 rankings coming next week.
