DMV Live Preview: Maryland Prospects (Part 4)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The June scholastic live periods are getting underway starting the weekend of June 16-18, and the DMV will be a must stop for college coaches. The annual DMV Live at DeMatha, Virginia Live Period Shootout (VISAA) and Alexandria City and the first ever VA Live by the VHSL will take place at Saint James, all within a 30 mile radius of each other.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We will take the next week or so breaking down the many prospects for coaches to take a look at in these events, and there's a TON of them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at part four of the Maryland prospects at the DMV Live we expect to make noise at the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1367745' first='Kris' last='Johnson'] | 6'4” CG | Grace Brethren '24</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1589486,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/09/Johnson-Kris-scaled.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/09/Johnson-Kris-scaled.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1589486" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Johnson is perhaps the most under recruited guard in the 2024 class in the DMV, as he's a winner in every way you can think of and brings an all-out style of play every time he's one the floor. He's a strong wing who gets downhill aggressively and is fearless when looking to get above the rim even in traffic, he thrives in transition where he runs the floor hard and dares anyone to challenge him when he takes off and he has a good midrange and pull-up game as well in the half court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1127307' first='Andrew' last='Dixon'] | 6'1” PG | Mt. Carmel team, and he's the leader who is going to the primary ball handler and playmaker for this group. He has great feel and vision with the ball in his hands, he's shifty with a great handle that allows him to break down defenders and touch the paint in isolation and pick-and-roll situations and he is a good finisher if help defense is late to rotate.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1370512' first='Mario' last='Tatum'] | 6'2” PG | Mt. He fits perfectly with Dixon as he can also handle the ball and make plays but can move off the ball as well, he's a very good shooter from deep both off the catch and off the bounce and he can make plays for other off the bounce as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1280947' first='Tyonne' last='Farrell'] | 6'6” PF | Mount St. Joe's '24</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1734382,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/01/IMG-1581.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/01/IMG-1581.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1734382" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Farrell had a breakout performance at last year's DMV Live and started his ascend to being one of the top prospects in Baltimore, and if coaches are smart they'll take a look at him because he's still without as much college interest as I think he deserves. The 6'6” forward is a ball of energy that fits that new model big man with his high motor and athleticism, he gets up and down and can switch defensively and he's a blue collar guy who rebounds and does all the dirty work while being efficient and playing within his game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
