The Delaware signee impress with his overall play throughout the game. He’s a skilled, unselfish wing/forward prospect who plays hard and fills in the gaps on both sides of the ball. Ellison moves well without the ball to find opportunities as a spot-up threat but can also finish or make the extra pass. He’s a solid defender and rebounder who shows a willingness to do whatever possible to provide his team with an edge.

-Ellison had a statement game in a big OT win for a Loyola team looking to separate themselves from the pack in the competitive Baltimore Catholic League. Ellison operates efficiently from either elbow, facing up or backing down to hit fall-away jumpers over the defense. Ellison’s ability to draw contact in the paint earns him a ton of easy opportunities to get or stay in a rhythm throughout the game. He showed the full offensive arsenal against the Gaels: hitting the bump and lay in transition, created the contact before finishing with a floater off glass, read the passer’s eyes for a steal and spike at the other end, scored around the defense using a great pivot from the midpost to lay it off glass, hit a midpost fade-away, drilled a corner 3, and hit several face-up jumpers from the top of the key. An absolute steal for Delaware as one of the youngest prospects in his grade.

-Two dynamic performances on Saturday as a guard that can detonate above the rim at any moment while mixing in smooth shooting off the bounce from the midrange and 3 point line. The Delaware commit also showed that he can get it done defensively off the ball as a shot-blocker, collecting three in a game in a win over Hayfield. Want to see Ellison use his scoring gravity to effect the game as a play-maker this season as the leader of a Loyola team that can make some waves in the BCL.

Ellison’s skillset as an explosive finisher was fully on display in our first game watching him with 2 poster dunks in transition. His handle has improved to make him more of a threat in the open floor as a play-finisher but also in the half-court as a shot-maker OTB. While I’ve always believed in the C+S and movement shooting ability, he’s starting to take and make the right 3s OTB when defenders go under the screen or aren’t able to get around it– his balance and consistency on the load-up make those shots a much more efficient look these days. Defensively, he has improved on the ball but I believe he has the potential to be elite on and off the ball at that end– looking forward to seeing how he continues to develop heading into his senior year.

was one of the most consistent scorers at DMVlive. Mason has a handful of ways he scores. He is a fantastic shooter, which stood out to me the most. He is crafty and a good finisher. Mason is a pure scorer and has a good feel for the game. Loyola Blakefield lost three games by a combined 9 points, and if those went their way and there wasn’t so much elite guard/forward talent at DMVlive, Mason would have made my first team. Mason averaged 19 PPG in session 1, then 24 PPG on 47.4% from three in session 2.

scored the ball at a high level all weekend. Mason is a talented shot-creator and a pure scorer. Some of the guys on this list or just in general were a little streaky with their shots on a game-to-game basis, but Mason looked locked in with his jump shot every game, which is one of the best tells for a great shooter. Even back to Loyola-Blakefield’s qualifiers, Mason has shot the ball well. He ended the weekend hitting 9 of his 19 threes in 3 games.

Loyola Blakefield’s offense in the first half was surgical against Miller, and it was in large part because of two guys. One of them was

. Mason scored from everywhere, but his jump shot worked well in the first half. He had 20 at the break and ended this game with 27 points and 7 rebounds. He followed that up with 28 in a close loss to Bishop Ireton.

-Ellison got it going in the 2H to cut the OLMC lead to single digits before the Cougars put the game away. Ellison hit 5 of his last 7 shots down the stretch, mixing in perimeter shooting, pull-up jumpers, and finger rolls at the rim. The versatile scoring guard looks poised to have a really big senior season leading a highly-touted class coming into Loyola next season.
