The annual DMV Live at DeMatha, Virginia Live Period Shootout (VISAA) and Alexandria City and the first ever VA Live by the VHSL will take place at Saint James, all within a 30 mile radius of each other.
We will take the next week or so breaking down the many prospects for coaches to take a look at in these events, and there’s a TON of them.
Here’s a look at part two of the Virginia prospects at the DMV Live we expect to make noise at the event.
Nijel Howard Nijel Howard 6'6" | PF Fairfax Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’7” PF | Fairfax Christian ’24
Howard waited his turn as an underclassman with Fairfax Christian, and had his breakout year helping them to a state championship last season. He has a chance to boost his stock big time and coaches will see his good athleticism and ability to get up and down for his size, he’s able to step out and stretch the floor from deep off the catch and he can face up and attack defenders off the bounce and use his size and athleticism to finish at the rim.
Elijah Adegbenro Elijah Adegbenro 6'4" | PF Fairfax Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’4” PF | Fairfax Christian ’24
Adegbenro is the ultimate glue guy for this Fairfax Christian team, as he doesn’t need the ball in his hands much to make an impact and he makes tons of winning plays for his team. While he’s a little undersized for his position he makes up for it with great athleticism and a very high motor that allows him to rebound over bigger defenders, he can protect the rim and finish above the rim with ease and he has a grit and toughness to him that he won’t allow others to outplay him.
Quin Gorman Quin Gorman 6'8" | PF Flint Hill | 2024 State VA | 6’8” PF | Flint Hill ’24
Gorman is having a terrific summer with AKT and Flint Hill in summer league, and he’s a guy that division one schools looking for a stretch big should take a look at. The 6’8” forward has a good frame and is an athletic finisher when he catches in the paint and runs the floor, he can step out and knock down shots from deep off the catch and he has good ball skills with the ability to put it on the deck and make plays for others.
Nate Ament Nate Ament 6'8" | SF Highland | 2025 State #12 Nation VA | 6’8” F | Highland School ’25
There hasn’t been a prospect in the 2025 class perhaps the in the country that has seen his stock boom the way that Ament’s has, as he’s gone from relatively unknown going into his sophomore year to a nationally ranked prospect with multiple high major offers. At his size he’s a walking mismatch with his ability to handle the ball in transition and on the perimeter, he’s a knock down shooter from deep and in the midrange, he is a good finisher around the rim with his length and he can defend multiple positions and is a good rebounder too.
Julian Rivera Julian Rivera 6'1" | PG Highland | 2025 State VA | 6’1” PG | Highland School ’25
Rivera was a huge reason for Highland’s run to the state championship last season, because he’s the guy who will do whatever it takes to help his team win. He’s a skilled lead guard who can handle pressure and plays with good pace, he’s a skilled playmaker and a very good shot maker with the ball in his hands and he’s a gritty defender who will guard whoever the other team’s best perimeter defender is regardless of their size or position.
Chance Perkins | 6’1” WG | Highland School ’25
Perkins was another breakout player for this Highland group last season, and while he may be a little undersized as an off guard he can fill it up in bunches and score the ball in so many different ways. He’s quick with the ball in his hands and has the ability to create space off the bounce, he has deadly range from deep and he’s a consistent shot maker who makes tough shots from all three levels.
Evan Brown Evan Brown 6'7" | PF Bishop Ireton | 2026 State VA | 6’8” C | Highland School ’26
Brown is one of the more intriguing young big men in the DMV that we’ve seen so far, as he has a ton of upside and continues to get better and more productive every time we see him. At 6’8” he has long arms and legs and moves very well getting up and down the floor, he’s a monster on the glass with a great motor and good athleticism and he has good touch out to 18 feet and around the rim as well.
