There were a lot of unsigned 2025 prospects competing this weekend and Harper was one of the top performers for his Run As One squad. The lefty wing made shots off the catch and has a college ready body that allows him to be physical and overpower smaller defenders at the rim. Harper caught fire from downtown in the game I caught but his best play was a sweet reverse layup with his left hand. Based on his impressive play, I assume Harper added to his small college interest after this weekend.

Harper is a physical and athletic player that many can not match. He has great strength and frame for a guard. He is a physical slasher that will finish at the rim through you. He does a good job on the boards for a guard because he can move you out of the way and then jump over you. He is a great player in transition that can beat everyone down the floor.

A multi-sport stud, Harper uses his physical frame to make an impact on both the gridiron and the hardwood for Westerville Central. Easy to see his football skills with how physical he plays and his body. A capable spot up shooter as well, Harper can get hot in a hurry if he’s left alone from the outside. Currently taking football recruiting visits, it seems likely that will be the sport Harper focuses on at the college level, but we wanted to also shine a spotlight on what he can do on the hardwood.

The beauty of the state tournament is that the stakes are so high, it’s win or go home. I feel horrible for the Westerville Central group that battled for 32 minutes, hit shots and competed on both ends, but somebody had to lose. I was impressed with Harper’s confidence shooting the ball from the outside on Saturday morning. I’ve seen him hit shots before from the perimeter but never in the quick succession that he did against Bradley, he was shooting it with confidence off the catch all day. A good athlete, Harper will be recruited for both his football and basketball talents. His strength and quick first step allows him to get downhill even as a left-hand dominant attacker. With Westerville Central graduating a lot of seniors, it’ll be on their 2025 core that includes Harper to keep them competitive in the OCC.

Harper is a sleeper. He really impressed me with his play in the game I saw this weekend. He had a presence on the court as a guard. A super athletic kid who was getting many steals and fast-break dunks. He has a good build. He also displayed great IQ and passing ability. He was picking apart the defense when he was putting pressure on the rim with either scoring or dump-off passes. He always saw the entire court. I did not see him take a jumper but he was responsible for either scoring or assisting on almost all of his team’s points in the second half.
