The event featured teams ranging from 10U to 17U and provided the perfect opportunity to evaluate a ton of prospects both ranked and unranked. Let’s take a look at some of the players I got to lay eyes on for the first time.
Perhaps a future prospect, Burrell showed skills and played with a good burst. Burrell has a terrific first step and he used it to get by the initial defender and get paint touches. The floor general showed a lot of moxie with his ability to make tough shots against pressure defense.
I’m always looking for quick competitive guys Johnson is both. He had himself a game when I pulled up, shooting the ball accurately from behind the three point line. He knocked down a total of four threes in the game I watched.
Was one of the best new players I saw on the day. The PG plays with great pace, has a good handle and did a remarkable job of getting to his spot. He also displayed a knack for good decision making, getting into the lane and either pulling up or dishing to a teammate.
Ross was a good looking two way player that played hard. He attacked the rim, relentlessly getting a head of steam while playing downhill.
I need to see more of Swinn he made some nice moves but just couldn’t seem to finish. He has decent positional size, and a good-looking shooting stroke. What caught my eye the most was his surprisingly quick first step which allowed him to get to the rim.
I was drawn to Royal because of his size. I only saw him for a short time, but during that stretch he made a few nice plays that raised my eyebrows, including knocking down a three pointer. With bigs being at a premium, and stretch big men being even more rare, A player with that type of size and potential skill has a ton of upside, and could be someone who could make an impact during his High School career.
