We dive into the positional rankings. We lastly look at the power forwards and centers for the sophomore class.
Here are the top-7 PF/C’s in the 2025 class:
Alejandro Aviles Alejandro Aviles 6'8" | C Dream City Christian | 2025 State #141 Nation AZ Dream City Christian
A highly skilled and cerebral post player with incredible mitts to catch anything thrown his way in the paint. He is a good passer and is money from elbow and in. He grabs any rebound near him and has advanced post footwork.
Jaion Pitt Jaion Pitt 6'7" | PF Canyon International Academy | 2025 State #90 Nation AZ Dream City Christian International (Pictured)
A high motored power forward rebounds in and out of his area. He is a very good defender in space and is strong enough to bang with anyone in the paint. He will flush it down high above the crowd and his ability to defend separates him from most.
Andrew Bhesania Andrew Bhesania 6'8" | PF Boulder Creek | 2025 State #348 Nation AZ Boulder Creek
A versatile power forward who has grown a little in the last year or so. He is rebounding the ball and blocking shots at a higher level. He carried his HS team during stretches in the playoffs and was a half court buzzer beater away from possibly being in the 6A Finals. He can shoot the three and score inside.
EJ Sommers EJ Sommers 6'9" | C Phhoenix Prep | 2025 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
Another who has recently grown in the last year. He has very good defensive principles to defend inside or on the perimeter. The post player can rebound and defend inside but moves well side to side in space. He can step out and hit the three but then score with advanced post footwork.
Jaylon Johnson Jaylon Johnson 6'8" | C Phhoenix Prep | 2025 State AZ Mountain Pointe
The big boy has real size and girth. He has huge hands to catch and uses his strength to seal his man and go to work with hook shots and scores on put backs. He missed the season with an injury but looks to bounce back in the fall.
James Steward James Steward 6'8" | PF Marcos De Niza | 2025 State AZ Marcos de Niza
A live bodied power forward has grown an inch in the last year. He plays with good energy to rebound and block shots and score it efficiently around the basket. He runs the floor and we are waiting for him to break out, which may be coming sooner rather then later.
Zane Gaul Zane Gaul 6'10" | C Prescott | 2025 State AZ Prescott
Another who has grown in the last year. He is unique at 6’10 to face up to the three point line and then still work in the post and finish thru contact. He uses his body and strength to play thru the hard play in the paint. His best skill is his rebounding. He rebounds with two hands above the crowd and will outlet well.
