Intro: Dawson Linder (2018)
Rising senior Dawson Linder runs the show for the Salem Wildcats. The 2018 lead guard is a facilitator first and foremost. He has a solid feel for the game and makes quick passes to his teammates. Like how he is constantly moving without the ball. Plays with toughness and has leadership potential. He will need to show that more this season as the Wildcats graduate two key seniors from last season. As a scorer he can hit an occasional three off the catch. Pass first point guard and spot up shooter are what this small college prospect brings to the table.
Linder is playing with the Illinois Bears on the travel team circuit this spring and summer.
“It went pretty good. I like how we play as a team. We have a very good ball handling team and we can dish the ball out. It is fast paced so I like that.”
This was his first year playing on a competitive grassroots team. How has the experience been?
“It has been exciting. I wish it was something I started earlier. It has really helped my game improve a lot. I am having fun. I think I am playing ok. I feel I can improve more with my shooting, but overall it is pretty good.”
He and fellow senior Damond Crosby will have to be the go to guys for the Wildcats this season.
“I feel like we have to take over and be leaders more. Help out these guys that are trying to find their games and stuff. Help out and be the leader.”
Worth consideration by D3/NAIA schools in the region.
