Legacy Charter Re-Loads
BJ Jackson led Southside High School in Greenville, South Carolina to one state championship game appearance and two upper state finals in his 8 years at the helm. He has been at Legacy Charter ever since and is building a top-notch program on the westside of Greenville.
Sharone Wright Jr.In the old Parker School complex near the dilapidated mill buildings of West Greenville, Legacy Charter has become one of the premier basketball destinations in the region. The Lions play a national schedule with up to 45 games against the best of the best. The renovated gym will rival most small college gymnasiums and they are set to build three auxiliary gyms in the future.
Last season, Legacy Charter finished 26-10 overall playing one of the toughest schedules in the region. Senior big man Nic Claxton signed with Georgia, senior guard Rayshawn Neal signed with South Carolina State and small forward Darrion Clinton signed with Spartanburg Methodist.
The 2017-2018 team is going to be just as strong with the announcement of Wake Forest commit Sharone Wright Jr., who is transferring to Legacy Charter. Wright is a 6-foot-6 point guard who brings instant offense to the Lions. His father Sharone Wright played in the NBA and had a lengthy career overseas. Wright is ranked as the #2 prospect in the 2018 class by PrepHoopsSC.
Also joining Wright as newcomers to Legacy is freshman CJ Plantin, a 6-foot-4 small forward out of Pendleton High School in South Carolina. Plantin is a player with a high basketball IQ and can score the basketball. Plantin is on the 2020 watch list for PrepHoopSC.
The starting line-up for next season will include Wright, shooting guard CJ Jamison, wing Dontrel Shuler (ranked #33 in the 2018 class by PrepHoopsSC), wing Chase Claxton and forward Donta King. Shuler is getting some Division One interest and has offers, Claxton is the little brother of last year’s star Nic Claxton and King is a big-body who is about to start gaining some attention.
