He did it on both ends and his hard earned offensive rebounds led to second chance points. The Lion big man worked into bodies in against the Eagles 2-3 zone which opened up opportunites for Central Lyon guards to drive and attack. He had earned a double double just one minute out of halftime. His 20 points and 14 rebounds was plenty to guide the Lions into the 2A title game Friday afternoon.rn
Highlights
The junior guard is a menace in transition; he pushes the ball at an incredible speed while maintaining great control and vision of the floor. If his teammates are out running with him in transition, it is very likely De Vries will work to get an angle to set them up for a bucket. The Eagles PG ended with 11 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds in the semifinal loss to #1 Central Lyon.
Highlights
Vander Zee brings a difficult matchup to any opponent. His size causes fits defensively and is able to get a hand in passing lanes and makes throwing a skip pass nearly impossible. Offensively, he flashed into the middle of the 2-3 zone and was able to elevate and finish high over defenders outstretched hands. He had a big 4th quarter, which included a corner 3 and an offensive rebound offf an o board, which he was fouled on. He garnered 19 points and 7 rebounds in the semifinal win over Pella Christian. rn
The 6’3 forward buried a couple corner 3’s right outta the gate and the Wolfpack were dialed in from then on. He added a tough transition and 1 double pump layup to kick off the start of the final period. He also displayed a little vision as he found Kaden Van Regenmorter Kaden Van Regenmorter 6’3″ | SF Hull, Western Christian | 2025 State IA on a backdoor cut for a big and 1 as well. The sophomore ended with 17 points and 4 rebounds.
Highlights
Another sophomore for the Wolfpack, Kaden finishes over length very well inside. He is a one man fast break off an offensive rebound, and if you cut him off, he is keen to knowing where his teammates are at all times. Him and his teammates did a great job of keeping Luke Patton Luke Patton 6’5″ | PF Roland-Story | 2023 State IA , a tenacious rebounder for the Norseman, off of the glass. His 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists showcase just how versatile of a player and how he impacts the game in a variety of ways.
